Position Summary:

The Group Leader’s primary responsibility is to assist and support the supervisor in managing the people and the processes of their assigned department. They are always to lead by example by demonstrating a positive attitude, a commitment to quality, and following all Company policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with carriers and customers concerning returns, re-consignments, corrected bills, and other shipping issues
  • Performs inquiries, maintain orders, route orders, and produce shipping documents for outbound shipments
  • Routing all outbound freight internally and externally
  • Ensure adherence to customer compliance requirements
  • Prepare paperwork and data entry for bill of ladings, RA’s, and internal file maintenance
  • Schedule pick-up/delivery of export shipments
  • Track all lost or late shipments
  • Be knowledgeable of all processes at SIC and be able to lead various teams
  • Direct and assign associates to work based on the demands of the department.
  • Conduct effective training for new employees, and for current employees when necessary
  • Follow and enforce all Company policies and procedures.
  • Understand and communicate departmental performance as it pertains to the department’s goals, standard work, and/or KPIs. Report out on said metric when necessary
  • Perform the supervisor’s daily tasks in their absence
  • Ensure that all daily 5S activities are completed
  • Demonstrate a commitment to developing a safety culture by encouraging associates to work safely and correcting unsafe behaviors and conditions
  • Assist supervisor/manager in addressing employee issues by keeping the supervisor informed of any discord or conflict in the department
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Utilize Continuous Improvement tools to drive results
  • Work assigned overtime when necessary
