Humans left the moon last time on December 14, 1972, over 51 years ago! With renewed interest in exploration and commercial lunar development, NASA is investing with industry partners to design, build, and fly the next generation of crewed/remote-piloted/autonomous lunar surface vehicles. Leidos Dynetics is actively involved with NASA delivering crewed flight hardware on several fro9nts and is identified as a critical member of the Lunar Dawn LTV team. We are looking to hire a LTV Test Lead.

Primary Responsibilities

The LTV Test Lead will be a critical part of design, certification, and delivery of flight hardware and will:

Provide daily insight into NASA requirements for testing of crewed vehicles driving design and manufacturing decisions and realistic testing scope and schedules.

Create test plans with sufficient detail to correctly match test scope to program schedule goals using test personnel resources.

Identify dedicated and manufacturing-integrated test facility requirements together with AI&T team.

Design/define type, quantity and resolution of test simulators optimized to execute testing in multiple facilities in parallel to support program requirements and schedule.

Reduce program risk partnering with NASA through planning and executing Government Task Agreements to utilize state-of-the-art, unique NASA facilities and associated Subject Matter Expert insights for early development testing.

Engage NASA’s broad and deep experience with Human-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing to plan and execute testing with a variety of simulators to achieve a robust, crew-centric design.

Plan for tightly integrated testing at component and subsystem levels throughout the manufacturing and assembly process tackling verification-by-test requirements early in the program.

Engage government, subcontractor and customer teammates at all levels including management, Safety & Mission Assurance, QA, and skilled trades with a positive, collaborative attitude.

Plan, document, and lead Test Readiness Reviews with NASA and Lunar Dawn Team members

Basic Qualifications

BS degree from an accredited engineering school and a minimum of 12 years of direct Test Engineering experience supporting NASA programs or MS degree with minimum of 10 years’ experience.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, be able to work in a team, and develop cooperative relationships

Experience working with System Modeling Tools or supplying data to same.

Experience working with detailed schedules creating dependencies.

Demonstrated experience with vehicle test design, planning including

Mechanical system design experience including familiarity with design, manufacturing and assembly processes

Ability to track multiple tasks and prioritize work independently

Self-motivation and quick learner to adapt to the broad array of subjects and issues encountered

Work on site in Huntsville, AL with potential travel to test facilities throughout the US

Preferred Qualifications

Be familiar with the details of NASA System Engineering requirements as needed.

A working knowledge and experience with Commercial Crew design and verification documentation and requirements

Working knowledge of NASA, ISS standards, practices and requirements including safety, fault tolerance, FMEAs and unique disciplines (i.e. mechanisms, Structures, Materials, etc.)

Experience with using CAD tools to open and manipulate CAD models or STP files in Creo

Pay Range:

Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00
