Senior Analyst, Program Officer (Fixed Term) – Sydney, Australia
The Senior Analyst, AML Compliance is under general supervision from senior management.
This position supports the development, implementation and enforcement of policies, procedures and programs designed to minimize potential Compliance risk for Western Union and its affiliates, within the established strategies of the Regulatory Compliance department.
An opportunity to join Western Union’s Compliance Team on a full-time basis for a 24-month period.
Role Responsibilities:
Leads, coordinates, or participates in assigned regulatory reporting projects simultaneously, including research, analysis, documentation, design/develop testing, problem resolution, training, status reporting, implementation, and post-rollout review/audit.
Creates and analyses complex data for reporting and potential solutions. May train and mentor lower-level analysts.
Risk & Issue Management – Proactively identify potential risks or delivery challenges, develop mitigation strategies, and escalate where necessary.
Continuous Improvement – Review and refine program processes, introducing efficiencies, automation, and best practices to enhance delivery outcomes.
Documentation & Knowledge Management – Maintain accurate program documentation, decision logs, and lessons learned to support transparency and future program planning.
Support Strategic Initiatives – Contribute analytical and operational support to high-priority projects that advance organisational goals.
Role Requirements:
Bachelor's or master's Degree preferred. Professional certifications in AML/CTF or risk management (e.g. CAMS or equivalent) highly desirable.
At least 4+ years of experience within AML/CTF Compliance, Financial Crime Risk, Regulatory Compliance, or Risk Management.
Strong knowledge of Australia AML/CTF legislation and regulatory requirements.
Experience supporting AML programs, frameworks, or remediation initiatives.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Experience preparing senior management and executive reporting.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes
Governance & Compliance Knowledge – Understanding program governance frameworks, risk management practices, and compliance requirements relevant to your sector.
Stakeholder Engagement – Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams, senior leaders, and external partners to align program objectives and resolve issues.
Organizational Agility – Skilled at managing multiple priorities, adapting to shifting deadlines, and maintaining attention to detail under pressure.
Communication Excellence – Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing executive briefings, program status reports, and decision-making papers.
Problem-Solving Mindset – Ability to identify challenges early, propose practical solutions, and drive continuous improvement in program delivery processes.
Team Contribution – A collaborative approach, with the ability to mentor junior team members and contribute to a positive, high-performance culture.
Results Orientation – A track record of delivering programs that achieve tangible business or community outcomes
