Job Description Summary:

Responsible for providing analysis and administration support to the Company’s pay practices, ensuring employee pay is competitive and retains top talent. This role supports the Human Resources team and provides excellent customer service to HomeStreet’s internal clients.

Job Details:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Participate in and analyze results of salary surveys to determine organization’s market relationship and ensure jobs and salary ranges are appropriately set.
  • Analyze competitive salary data to support pay decisions and recommendations.  Facilitate compensation and promotion requests. Assist managers with proposed changes, obtain necessary approvals and ensure changes are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Review, update, and maintain organization-wide job descriptions.  Partner with Recruiting, HR Business Partners and/or Managers on new or revised job descriptions. Determine appropriate job grading for new or revised jobs, ensuring internal consistency and market competitiveness. Ensure proper FLSA classification of jobs and that pay levels are compliant with state and federal minimum wage. Document job evaluation requests and results. 
  • Responsible for preparation of incentive plans. Adhere to incentive plan creation or modification process and prepare summaries & recommendations.
  • Manage compensation plan assignments and job profiles in Workday.  Create new or modify existing plan assignments and job profiles as needed. 
  • Provide equity plan administration support related to new award agreements, vesting transactions, and termination of existing award agreements.  Provide ad-hoc reports as necessary.
  • Collaborate on executive compensation analysis, including short and long-term incentive compensation.
  • Key member of compensation team in designing the company wide quarterly check-ins, annual performance review and goal setting processes. Test quarterly check-ins, annual review and goal setting configurations in HRIS, review and update job aids for employees, and offer guidance to managers and employees who have questions or need assistance.
  • May provide support with materials for the Compensation Committee of the Board.
  • Support audit deliverables related to compensation documentation, processes, payouts and entries.
  • Research situations as they arise related to aspects of compensation to provide clarity for resolution in consideration of contract provisions, historical practices, similar situations, etc.
  • Prepare standard and ad-hoc analytical reports on compensation expense and related metrics.  Identify and research trends and prepare projections.
  • Responsible for answering compensation related inquiries from general mailbox and escalating to manager as needed.
  • Process Single Family commission entries in Company system.
  • Support HR team with initiatives, projects, and M&A activity.
  • Provide superior service to internal staff and external customers.
  • Assume additional duties as assigned, responding to departmental needs as they arise.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or the equivalent in related work experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years working in compensation analysis or comparable field and relatable experience required.  General human resources and/or banking experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of compensation theory, planning, design, and trends; and government regulations that apply to compensation programs.
  • Experience with compensation reporting, compensation survey submission & analysis, market pricing, and job analysis.
  • Experience with designing and modeling the financial impact of salary administration programs, incentive plans, and other compensation programs.
  • General knowledge of HRIS platforms, preferably Workday.
  • Strong numbers orientation, including knowledge of basic statistical and mathematical calculations.
  • Experience in organizing and analyzing data into actionable conclusions and recommendations for presentation in a clear, concise, and easily understandable manner.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite with particular expertise using Excel for data analysis. 
  • Excellent consultation and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • A self-starter with the ability to make decisions, work independently, set and handle multiple priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer service orientation.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with the highest level of discretion.
  • Proven ability to answer questions tactfully and diffuse difficult situations.
  • Ability to accept and facilitate change, whether indicated by corporate needs, market or regulatory requirements.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS:

  • Able to operate a Personal Computer and view information on a monitor.
  • Must be able to sit for many hours each day.
  • Must be able to communicate via telephone and possess dexterity to include filing documents, reaching and bending.
  • May be required to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to speak and understand English and express ideas and have difficult conversations in person and over the telephone.
  • Ability to listen and comprehend speech.
  • Ability to problem solve, make decisions, interpret data and information, read, write and organize information in an orderly manner.
  • Willing and able to travel occasionally as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Normal business office environment with the potential for hybrid options as agreed upon with hiring manager.
  • Ability to work in artificial light for extended periods of time.
