The role

Provide quality technical support and develop the technical competencies of internal and external customers related to rebuilds on Sandvik trackless mobile machines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to end users, operators, and service personnel.
  • Provide relevant feedback to Product Support Managers (PSM) to enable improvements to the equipment or its operation.
  • Provide support in compiling accurate data to process warranty claims and the design and engineering machine improvements.
  • Review spare parts recommendations with Parts organization.
  • Contribute to the review of strategic stock list for the Workshop
  • Provide information on accuracy of Machine Life Operating Costs (MLOC) to PSM
  • Investigate warranty claims to enhance customer satisfaction and provide feedback to the Warranty Handlers
  • Provide on-site technical support to resolve technical issues during rebuild of machines.
  • Conduct root cause failure analysis for any component that fails during testing a machine following its rebuild
  • Provide input to the customization and improvements of Workshop service job plans
  • Monitor the machine rebuild process and provide recommendations aimed process optimisation
  • Effectively manage the quotations to ensure that the cost is in-line with the Bill of Material.
  • Manage profit margins per rebuild of each machine
  • Contribute to the overall optimisation of the Workshop production resources, e.g. labour, space, parts etc. and recommend and/or implement remedial action.

Profile Required

  • Grade 12 / N3 Technical Qualification / Equivalent Qualification
  • Section 13 or 26D Trade Certificate in Electrical accompanied by the apprenticeship portfolio of evidence.
  • 5 years’ experience of operational, maintenance and engineering aspects of rebuilds.
  • Knowledge and experience on Sandvik trackless mobile machines would be advantageous
  • 5 years trackless mining experience
  • Physical and medical ability to work in a mining environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • English proficiency
  • Computer literacy
  • Valid driver’s license
