Data Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Technology team in Krakow, and we’re currently looking for a Data Engineer to be a part of the team.

The Data Engineer will provide a trusted self-service data analysis capability for business decision makers & data specialists by building & operating VGW’s data platforms.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Build and operate scalable data platforms and pipelines, ingesting structured and unstructured data from multiple internal and external sources.
• Design and develop data pipelines using modern DevOps practices and cloud-native data warehouse and data lake technologies.
• Integrate with third-party APIs to ingest and deliver data in a reliable, performant and secure way.
• Ensure data platform reliability and quality by understanding and monitoring SLAs, SLOs and SLIs.
• Apply appropriate controls to support security, privacy and regulatory requirements, reducing operational risk.
• Enable self-service analytics by working closely with analysts to surface data for reporting and visualisation.
• Analyse raw and curated data to understand business problems, and help propose potential causes and solutions.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and stakeholders to break down features, manage risks and deliver effective solutions aligned with both short- and long-term business needs.
  
  

What you will bring to the role:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or equivalent);

• Proficient in SQL and Python;

• Well-versed in “Cloud Native” DataOps practices (including IaC, CI/CD, Git). Relevant AWS certifications are desirable;

• Exposure to Data Warehousing Modeling (Dimensional, Data Vault 2.0);

• Awareness of “big data” tools such as Hadoop, Spark and EMR;

• Working knowledge of relational SQL and NoSQL databases, including Postgres and DynamoDB;

• Knowledge/Certifications or experience in Databricks/Spark or Snowflake is a plus.
