BE THE DIFFERENCE

At AIA we don’t simply believe in being ‘the best’. We believe in better – because there’s no limit to how far ‘better’ can take us. Everything we do is driven by our purpose to make a difference by helping people embrace Healthier, Longer, Better Lives. And every one of our people has an important role to play. If you want to make a difference by helping shape a healthier, better-protected Australia, read on.

At AIA Australia we currently have a great opportunity for a Retail Pricing Intern to join our Retail Pricing team on a part time basis, 15 to 20 hours per week. Ideally, you are currently in second year of a bachelors degree majoring in actuarial studies (or in 3rd year and planning to continue university studies in 2025), and have made some progress with part 1 subjects of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia (or equivalent exemptions).

The purpose of the job is to provide prompt support to fulfil policy services requests, including financial administration of AIA’s annuity portfolio. In addition, other regular or ad-hoc tasks are to be performed as required to assist the Retail Pricing department with meeting its goals. The key responsibilities of the role are to:

  • Provide prompt response to policy services requests for AIA’s retail products. This is achieved by performing and reviewing calculations such as premium projections, premium breakdowns, surrender values, maturity values, death benefits, cancel & replace and new business special discounts.

  • Assist with financial administration of AIA’s annuity portfolio by calculating the annuity payments on a monthly basis, surrender values and reporting.

  • Update CPI, APL, RBA and terminal bonus rates to be used in various AIA systems and processes on a regular basis.

  • From time to time provide pricing support and perform other ad-hoc tasks including remediation work, as well as any other tasks or responsibilities assigned by management.

With this role, you will have an opportunity to gain a deep understanding of AIA retail products. As an effective communicator, you will have the ability to build rapport and manage your stakeholders effectively. You are persistent in finding solutions to issues that arise, but also possess the skills to know when to call out for assistance.
