The Pharmacy Technician – Ambulatory supports the Neurology Outpatient Pharmacy at Main Campus as part of the organization’s expanding neurological services. This newly developed outpatient pharmacy supports approximately 150–400 prescriptions per day and offers a unique opportunity to help build and grow pharmacy operations within the Neurology department. Responsibilities include supporting daily workflow and operational efficiency, assisting with prescription processing and patient service, ensuring high-quality patient care, and collaborating closely with clinical and operational leaders across Neurology. This role also supports onboarding, training, and team development initiatives within a fast-paced ambulatory pharmacy environment.
A caregiver in this role will work 8 hour shifts Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:45am - 6:15pm with holiday requirements occurring every 5 years. Weekend requirements will occur 1-2 weekends per quarter. No floating expectations.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the pharmacist in an ambulatory/outpatient setting.
Prepare prescription orders for dispensing to patients.
Maintain inventory for the outpatient pharmacy.
Assist with extemporaneous compounding of prescriptions and bulk compounding of prescriptions and over the counter items.
Operate the point-of-sale cash register system.
Monitor and act on reorder points, restock prescription and non-prescription area and remove expiring products.
Provide multi-pharmacy support in assigned areas as needed.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Upon hire, must hold an active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP).
Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy is required within 18 months.
Must obtain a national certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National HealthCareer Association (NHA). within 18 months.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program.
Six months of hospital experience.
Prior management experience working in complex and high-volume pharmacy
