Mental Health Acute Inpatient Services
Permanent, Full-Time
Location: Melbourne, Fitzroy
Salary Range: $76,515 - $90,000 - commensurate with experience (plus super)



ABOUT THE SERVICE

St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne (SVHM) is seeking experienced and motivated Psychiatric Registered Nurses (Grade 2) to join our Mental Health Acute Inpatient Services.

In this role, you will deliver high-quality, recovery-oriented care to consumers experiencing acute mental health conditions within an inpatient setting. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive assessment, care planning, and therapeutic interventions in a fast-paced clinical environment.

You will be supported to further develop your mental health nursing skills, with access to ongoing education, supervision, and professional development opportunities.

ABOUT YOU

To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Minimum 2 years’ acute nursing experience, preferably in mental health inpatient settings

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse

  • Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

  • Excellent clinical assessment, risk management, and de-escalation skills

  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills

  • Confidence managing acute and complex mental health presentations

  • Commitment to recovery-oriented and patient-centred care

  • Ongoing commitment to professional development

  • Solid computer and documentation skills
