JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position will serve Giles, Hickman, Maury, Lewis, Marshall, Lawrence, Wayne and Perry counties in Tennessee

SUMMARY OF POSITION

•    Centerstone is seeking a therapist with experience treating children/adolescents (ages 3-18) and their families with acute emotional problems. The position is a community-based position, providing flexibility with work schedule. This is an opportunity to work with a multi-disciplinary team. No weekend or on call work required.  
        
 ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Develop therapeutic rapport with clients – Meet with clients as scheduled to aid in development of therapeutic relationship.
•    Diagnostic Assessment – Formulate a provisional diagnostic assessment based on information presented, identify need for risk assessment (to include substance use assessments).
•    Concurrent Documentation – Completes documentation to extend authorizations as required.  
•    Provide assessment services and individual (and possibly family) therapy to those identified at risk for being removed from the home.
•    Treatment Planning – Developing, writing, implementing, evaluating and revising overall treatment goals/objectives and plans per ongoing assessment of needs and input from the individual based on their identified strengths.
•    Therapeutic Interventions – Use of empirically based modalities to engage and manage their mental health or substance abuse diagnosis.
•    Progress notes completed within current agency guidelines.
•    Responds to supervisory request for coverage for vacant caseloads.  This includes telehealth and face to face intervention.
•    Keeps administrative supervisor informed of all potential issues that could impact the client, their family, program or the organization.  

      

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

•    Effectively communicate via written, verbal, in person and virtual methods.
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office products
•    Coordination, ability to organize, and plan are critical for this role
•    Responds to needs of consumers in a timely and professional manner.
•    Demonstrates good clinical judgment in decision making regarding consumers.  
 

         

Education Level              

  • This position requires a master’s degree in psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Mental Health, or related field. Prefer candidate to be license eligible in their chosen field.
  • Successful applicants should have at a minimum, course work and/or work experience including clinical internships, in the following topics: treatment and treatment planning, appraisal and assessment of mental disorders, psychopathology, and the use of the DSM in assigning a diagnosis.
