The Senior Director of Procurement & Sourcing will provide strategic leadership for sourcing, supplier management, and procurement operations for a leading distributor of automotive parts. This role will oversee a dynamic procurement function, ensuring alignment with business objectives while driving innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence. Reporting to executive leadership, the Senior Director will lead a cross-functional, metrics-driven approach to optimize cost, quality, and supply chain efficiency while fostering collaboration across teams and managing a high-performing organization.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Develop and execute a forward-looking sourcing and procurement strategy that aligns with organizational goals, ensuring cost optimization, supplier performance, and supply chain resilience.
- Lead the integration of sourcing and procurement functions, including collaboration with the Director of Sourcing and their team, to create a cohesive and scalable procurement organization.
- Serve as a key advisor to executive leadership, providing insights and recommendations on procurement trends, risks, and opportunities.
Metrics-Driven Performance Management
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the health and effectiveness of the procurement function, including workload balancing, backlog management, supplier performance, and cost savings.
- Implement systems and processes to track and report on procurement metrics, ensuring data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Develop tools and dashboards to provide visibility into procurement operations, enabling proactive identification of bottlenecks and opportunities for optimization.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with cross-functional teams, including Category Management, Supply Chain Operations, Finance, Engineering, and Pricing, to align sourcing strategies with business priorities and customer needs.
- Act as a strategic liaison to ensure procurement initiatives support broader organizational objectives, including revenue growth, operational efficiency, and sustainability.
- Collaborate with Finance to manage budgets, forecast savings, and ensure alignment with P&L targets.
Supplier Management & Risk Mitigation
- Lead supplier relationships, negotiations, and contracts to secure favorable terms, ensure quality, and mitigate supply chain risks.
- Develop and implement supplier diversification strategies to enhance supply chain resilience and reduce dependency on single sources.
- Oversee supplier compliance with regulatory requirements and ethical sourcing standards, fostering a culture of accountability and transparency.
Innovation & Technology Enablement
- Drive the adoption of technology-enabled procurement solutions, including e-sourcing tools, digital platforms, and data analytics, to enhance efficiency and decision-making.
- Lead the development and implementation of digital tools for rebate management, workload tracking, and reporting to improve transparency and operational effectiveness.
- Champion innovation by identifying opportunities to integrate sustainability and emerging trends into procurement practices.
Continuous Improvement & Team Leadership
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by leveraging market intelligence, data analytics, and industry best practices to optimize procurement decisions.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement team, ensuring clear accountability, professional growth, and alignment with organizational goals.
- Promote collaboration, workload balancing, and resource allocation to ensure the team operates effectively and efficiently.
Financial Accountability
- Establish and achieve cost reduction and profitability improvement targets, ensuring alignment with organizational financial goals.
- Oversee supplier rebate programs to maximize financial benefits and strengthen strategic supplier partnerships.
- Manage cost inflation and implement proactive strategies to contain costs while maintaining product quality and availability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
- 12+ years of progressive experience in sourcing, procurement, and supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record of developing and executing sourcing strategies that deliver measurable cost savings and operational efficiencies.
- Expertise in global and domestic sourcing, supplier risk management, and high-stakes contract negotiations.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing multi-million-dollar procurement budgets and delivering P&L impact.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and foster collaboration across diverse stakeholders.
- Experience with data analytics, workload management, and procurement technology platforms (e.g., e-sourcing tools, ERP systems).
- Industry experience in automotive parts distribution, aftermarket parts, or a related sector is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements related to automotive parts sourcing and procurement.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in sourcing, procurement, and supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
