About the Role

Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the position of Network Director of Physician Training - St Vincent’s South West Network. 
This position would suit an experienced Physician with a passion for medical education and training, particularly that of Junior Doctors. The objective of this role is to ensure that the delivery of Basic Physician training with St Vincent’s South West Network is of the highest quality, is sustainable and is in accordance with RACP requirements and clinical service needs.

The St Vincent’s South West Network encompasses St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney, Campbelltown Hospital and Wagga Wagga Base Hospital.  This role will be responsible for managing the three Site Directors of Physicians Training at each of these sites to ensure that Basic Physician Trainees receive high quality teaching and supervision across the Network.  A key focus of this role is to build strong working relationships with stakeholders in teaching and training, medical workforce, and hospital administrations across all three sites.
 

Duties Include
Management of Physician training across the St Vincent’s South West Network, encompassing St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney, Campbelltown Hospital and Wagga Wagga Base Hospitals.  

To provide leadership and coordination for the networked Basic Physician Training program, supporting the role of the Network Governance Committee (NGC) and fostering the training of junior medical staff in Basic Physician Trainings.

The Network Director reports to the Director Medical Services and works closely on local initiatives and policies related to JMO wellbeing and performance within the Basic Physician Training network.

The position will need to work/collaborate with Manager Medical Workforce as required related to the Basic Physician Training Network.

The position will need to work operationally with site JMO Units / Medical Administration to be involved with the day to day workforce management of Basic Physician Trainees including rostering, leave management, overtime management, term
allocation, resource allocation and performance management of clinical terms within the Basic Physician Training Network

Selection Criteria:

•    Possess, or be eligible to possess, specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia,
•    Possess Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent 
•    Demonstrated strategic clinical leadership experience including change management in a complex
environment, influencing and negotiating skills, and conflict resolution.
•    Demonstrated superior organizational skills and the ability to coordinate and develop a strong teaching program through to examination stage.
•    Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of the organization and in particular the ability to provide mentorship and leadership to those studying physician training or thinking about this career path in the future.
•    Knowledge and understanding of the principles of adult learning, learning methodologies, learning
pathways, assessment practices
•    Examiner or Provisional Examiner with Royal Australian College of Physicians
•    A current clinical appointment at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney or at another site within the training network is preferable
•    Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries
