KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Maintains good relationships and connections with other departments and payers to allow for excellent communication and information sharing needed to complete a claim.
2. Completes claims and billing for all payers including Medicare A&B, Medicare Advantage Part A&B, HMO, MCO, PPO, Medicaid, and private pay.
3. Enters all ICD 10 diagnosis codes into the electronic medical record to allow for billing to occur.
4. Reverses ancillary charges from EPIC and posts therapy charges into nursing home claim for Medicare and Medicare Advantage residents to allow for proper billing.
5. Tracks and bills the required Medicare/Medicare Advantage No-Pay claims to CMS/FISS as required by law.
6. Monitors the aging account following delayed claims and payment.
7. Completes adjustment claims as needed throughout admissions to ensure accurate billing and accounting.
8. Coordinates accounting and maintains records of the resident trust account to ensure safe handling of resident funds and to meet the state and federal regulations.
9. Completes follow-up when payment is not received and processes collections as needed.
10. Completes month-end financial and census statements and accounting to maintain knowledge of financial operations and understand revenue status.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED preferred
Must be 18 years of age
Two years of experience in long-term care billing and business office operations
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance
Job classification has a slight chance of exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Normally works in climate controlled office environment
Frequent sitting with movement throughout office space
Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents
Possible contact with aggressive residents
Use of computers throughout the work day
Frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and fingers
