Role Overview

As an Analyst in the Performance Management team within Group Finance, you will play a pivotal, hands-on role in tracking, analyzing and driving the bank’s performance. This role is a good opportunity designed for a sharp, analytical professional with at least 2 years of experience looking to bridge the gap between core finance and executive-level strategy. You will work closely with the team across two main focus areas: delivering core management reporting packs (such as monthly and quarterly financial reports) for the Board and Management Committee and driving competitor benchmarking to see how we stack up against other banks.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Customer Analytics, Management Reporting and Analysis

  • Executive Reporting & Variance Analysis: Assist in preparing clear, high-quality financial performance reports for the Board and Management Committee, learning to craft concise commentary that explains the "why" behind the financial results.
  • Profitability Tracking & Margin Analysis: Learn to deep dive into the bank’s revenue streams, interest margins, and cost structures to monitor overall profitability, identifying key drivers of profit growth.
  • Customer Insights & Balance Sheet Impact: Help synthesize complex data across various business lines to deliver high-level, panoramic insights on the bank's total customer base, Group-wide New-to-Bank acquisition and cross-selling depth, connecting customer portfolio dynamics (e.g., stickiness, attrition) directly to the bank’s financial performance.
  • Agile Ad-Hoc Analytics: Support the performance management team on critical, high-priority financial analysis and ad-hoc presentation requests from the CFO and senior leadership—gaining incredible visibility in the process.

2. Peer Benchmarking & Market Positioning

  • Drive Competitive Intelligence: Contribute to the benchmarking process, transforming raw data into high-impact insights for the Management Committee, pinpoint market opportunities and flag competitive threats.
  • Rapid-Response Reporting: Deliver swift competitor financial performance analysis immediately following quarterly earnings announcements.
  • Own the Data Ecosystem: Maintain and optimize a robust, up-to-date repository of competitor financial databases, analyst presentations, and Bank Negara Malaysia statistics to fuel strategic decks.

3. Continuous Innovation & AI Adoption: Partner with the team to integrate generative AI and modern visualization tools across both reporting streams to automate workflows, elevate data storytelling, and build crisp visual narratives.

Job Requirements

1. Education & Experience

  • Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related quantitative discipline. Professional qualifications (e.g., MIA, ACCA, CPA) are a strong plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in performance management, management reporting or strategic financial analysis. Candidates from Big 4 or established audit firms are highly encouraged to apply. We value a strong foundation in financial analysis, exceptional data-storytelling abilities, and a proven track record of delivering insights to senior leadership, regardless of your industry background.

2. Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Financial Fluency: Solid understanding of corporate financial statements, performance metrics (e.g., profitability ratios, variance analysis, cost drivers), and basic corporate structures.
  • Modern Tech Stack: Proficiency in (or a strong desire to learn) modern visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau). Enthusiasm for utilizing generative AI tools to streamline workflows is highly desirable.
  • Advanced Excel & Modelling: Strong Excel skills, with a proven ability to maintain, organize, and draw insights from large, complex data repositories.

3. Soft Skills

  • Agility & Drive: High resilience and agility to perform under tight timelines, particularly during high-pressure quarterly competitor result cycles.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively across various business units and Group Finance sub-teams.
