About You and This Role:

You will apply technical skills to ensure plants within area assigned are able to minimize the risk of release from equipment used to handle chemicals (minimize L1/L2).  

You will consist primarily of ensuring there are no gaps in compliance with applicable legal requirements and generally accepted good engineering practices in mechanical integrity (GMISS Identification and Improvement) as well as helping to drive the implementation and application of the business/facility maintenance strategy.  You will identify the reliability opportunities and drives improvement over a long-term period through risk assessments, reliability models and other evaluations for area of assignment.  You will be required to expanded conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and broadens capabilities. 

Responsibilities:

  • Working with a project manager, Houston Hub mechanical integrity SMEs, and global standard expert partners, ensure implementation of a sustainable management system to ensure long term compliance with the Global Mechanical Integrity Safety Standard
  • Able to meet project deadlines and deliverables independently to ensure that assigned facilities within Texas City are in compliance with GMISS registration and inspection requirements.
  • Utilizes defined GMISS MET and challenges/escalates MET application/design and assumptions when better solutions arise.
  • Knowledgeable of assigned facility unit operations, cardinal rules, and applicable process safety rules in order to lead decision making and identify gaps in regards to “as-built” vs GMISS standard requirements.
  • Ensures the GMISS standard as (MET) is understood and applied correctly within assigned areas of the Texas City site.
  • Maintains, owns, and reviews Key Process Indicators (KPI)/project progress to ensure project will be executed within required timeline
  • Responsible for ensuring P&IDs, Physical Equipment Registration Files, Electronic equipment documentation, and Asset Registry information represent what is in the Field for assigned facilities
  • Acts as a GMISS plant technical expert and engages during mechanical integrity failures (NCRs) or facility Turnarounds to ensure that equipment registrations are understood, maintained accurate, and/or are appropriately updated
  • Identifies and resolves Top Reliability Opportunities and decrease equipment failure losses in order to meet the site Product Supply Reliability improvement goals for the given year.
  • Creates Equipment Reliability Strategies based upon Top Opportunity List, Critical Equipment List, and identified plant/business needs.
  • Validates ERS implementation and closes gaps to improve/sustain reliability improvement.
  • Optimizes PPM activities, on an on-going basis, to support overall productivity improvements.
  • Uses reliability engineering principles and tools (Weibull, RCI, FMEA) to identify and eliminate negative reliability trends and equipment performance.
  • Develops and implements the Facility Reliability Strategy.
  • Serves as RCI Team Leader with proven RCI skills, coaches others in RCI facilitation and ensures strong RCI/CAPA fundamentals are practiced within the unit.
  • Facilitates the Reliability Team and implement of the HRO principles within the unit, building strong partnerships and coaching/teaching as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of bachelor’s degree in engineering.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
