Role Mandate:

Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, Shoppers Drug Mart

Accountabilities:

Business Partnering

  • Partner with Business Leadership to provide financial expertise and identify strategic business opportunities while also ensuring accurate compliance and control around financial processes
  • Effectively partner with the business to ensure accurate forecasting of risks and opportunities in the period results
  • Continual development and evaluation of management reporting to ensure its effectiveness while remaining efficient
  • Provide senior management analysis and reporting on ad hoc basis

Annual Planning

  • Lead the team which creates 1,350+ store plans, the CYP Manual, and several planning tools and assumptions.  Support our Operators and Owners in the attainment of a ‘fair and achievable plan’.

Financial Process Optimization (FPO)

  • Working closely with finance counterparts in the division and across the organization to drive the finance vision including data-driven insights, sharing of best business practices and efficiencies
  • Provide centralized analysis and evaluation of business processes for activities
  • Participate and lead special projects including finance transformation or banner/category specific projects

Talent & Culture Leadership

  • Lead and develop the team while fostering a culture of performance, collaboration, and continuous development. Provide direction, management and coaching to employees, providing them with challenges & giving them the opportunity to learn and to be successful.

Role Requirements:

  • CPA designation preferred
  • Experienced in MicroStrategy & SAP with working knowledge of Loblaw’s IT and data structure
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience or a similar combination of education and relevant work experience in an analytical / business planning role
  • Strong leadership and project management skills with proven ability to lead a team and deliver objectives on time and within budget
  • Strong communication skills with an emphasis on verbal reasoning, conflict resolution and listening skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Superior time management and organizational skills
  • Strong technical skills (accounting practices/standards, computer skills, etc.)
  • Proactive individual, able to effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with people at various levels of an organization
  • Results oriented – consistently delivers on time and drives for results
  • Management experience with knowledge of developing staff skills and abilities
