Job Description – Senior Manager – Pharmacy Market Insights

Overview

Reporting directly to the Senior Director, Pharmacy Insights and Analytics, the incumbent is responsible for analyzing SDM and Loblaw pharmacy market share, identifying areas of opportunities, success factors and potential barriers. The ideal candidate is someone with an analytical mindset and a proven ability to quickly grasp unstructured situations, drive insights from both the quantitative and qualitative information available, and present results and recommendations in a clear and concise manner.

What you will do:

  • Provide accurate and timely reporting to senior leadership team on overall pharmacy market share, as well as specific category and geographical trends
  • Use a variety of data sources, both internal and external, to analyze trends in the Canadian pharmacy market, including identification of growth opportunities and areas for improvement
  • Develop and implement effective strategies and plans for capturing, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data related to SDM and Loblaw's position in the retail pharmacy market
  • Provide and clearly articulate actionable insights based on thorough analysis of complex data sets and macro trends that can be utilized by senior management for strategic decision-making processes
  • Stay abreast with current trends and regulatory changes in pharmacy sector across different regions in Canada; as well as internal and competitors’ initiatives that may impact market share
  • Manage relationships with external vendors or stakeholders involved in information gathering or reporting processes; ensure efficient service delivery according to set agreements
  • Collaborate with Senior Directors / Directors from key stakeholder groups (e.g., Health & Wellness, Rx Procurement and Healthcare Businesses, Pharmacy Operations, etc.) with validating assumptions and hypothesis

What you will need:

  • Greater than seven years of experience, with majority spent in the retail or pharmacy industry
  • Post secondary education equivalent to a university degree in business, finance or economics
  • Strong analytical skills - the ability to leverage data, experience and industry knowledge to provide actionable insights and recommendations, as well as to identify financial/business implications to senior management
  • Knowledge of IQVIA data a strong asset
  • Advanced computer skills to produce reports, documents and presentations, as required:
  • Expert knowledge MS Office software (including Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with SQL/Teradata/Python programming and business intelligence software (e.g., PowerBI, MicroStrategy, etc.)
  • Experience managing and mentoring direct reports is an asset
  • Demonstrated communication and presentation skills
  • High level of initiative to take projects from start to finish with minimal supervision
  • Ability to set and prioritize work amid competing demands
  • Ability to work with diverse personalities and styles
