Senior Manager, Software Development Engineering

What you will do: 

  • Work on cutting edge technology for the providing world class release safety, including exposure to open source tech.

  • Evaluate, Adopt, Evolve and Maintain both open, inner source and closed source tools and technology and drive the resiliancy ecosystem for Expedia

  • Create a positive work environment based on accountability and inclusiveness, in partnership with peers on the leadership team. Lead by example, mentor the team, and establish credibility through quality technical execution

  • Play a key role in the analysis, design, architecture, development and maintenance of EG’s Release Safety Platform.

  • Defines teams goals and how they fit business needs across multiple orgs working together.

  • Delivers and influences product roadmap, working in collaboration with product and other platform teams.

  • Manage and lead the product development lifecycle to reduce time to market, improve product quality and ensure product success.

  • Lead others in resolving technical issues in a timely manner; follow up with customers to ensure best possible experience for the platform users

  • Partner with the business to integrate new technologies into business solutions; create and communicate a vision of the technology requirements for the future state of the business

  • Manage a team of 10+ individual contributors across multiple geographies.

Who you are: 

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD degree in computer science or related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience
  • Preferably possess 10+ years of industry experience comprising of experience in managing large scale application and preferably data pipeline operations along with software development experience in building services and applications in AWS cloud platform.
  • Preferable to have people management experience with a passion for growing individual careers and enabling high-performing teams.
  • Familiar with high volume transactional systems, microservice design, continuous delivery, automated deployments, and related engineering practices.
  • Experience working on Backend Technologies REST, GraphQL, gRPC, SQL/NoSQL DBs and Programming language like Go, Java, Scala, Kotlin
  • Hands on experience with native AWS services such as EC2, ECS, EKS, EMR, S3, Lambda, RDS, Route53, CloudWatch, API Gateway.
  • Preferable to have experience in building Data Pipeline using Spark, Kafka, Scala and AWS Technologies.
  • Experience in monitoring observability tools such as Data Dog, Splunk.
  • Experience in delivering automated solutions that improve platform health, security, cost-efficiency, alerting and monitoring.
  • Ability to lead multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, prioritise decisions and tasks effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Effectively communicate with others in a courteous, thoughtful and professional manner and demonstrate multi-tasking ability for orchestrating multiple activities at a time.
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and mentoring skills
  • Someone with collaborative spirit with the ability to work across disciplines to influence, learn, deliver and grow.
