The Automated Machinery Tech diagnoses and repairs mechanical problems of automated packaging and manufacturing equipment.

  • Designs and fabricates machinery parts, including sheet metal work to facilitate repairs and improve operation.
  • Sets up various production lines. Diagnoses and repairs minor electrical issues. Basic programming of automated packaging and manufacturing equipment electronic controls.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on packaging and manufacturing equipment to assess machinery wear and avoid machinery downtime.
  • Checks ventilation system to ensure proper air delivery for employee safety. Cleans ventilation system air filters to ensure proper functioning.
  • Project work as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor or Lead.

Requirements:

Vocational Degree in mechanics of automated packaging / manufacturing machinery systems required. 2-5 years experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably a regulated manufacturing environment) working with automated packaging & manufacturing machinery systems. Demonstrated experience working with electrical controls, electronics, HVAC, and machine shop.

Mental/Motor Requirements:

Constant attentiveness. Frequent reading, writing, problem solving, verbal communication, basic math and independent decision making required. Mechanical aptitude required.

Environment Requirements:

Frequently exposed to dust. Constantly exposed to excessive noise and moving machinery. Frequent exposure to fumes and odors. Physical Requirements: Constant standing and moving about (50% stationary; 50% moving about). Constant fingering, reaching (shoulder height and below), handling of high speed packaging and near vision. Constant handling and bending at the waist. Occasionally reaches above shoulder height. Constantly lifts and carries up to 25 lbs. and frequently lifts and carries up to 50 lbs. Occasionally pushes up to 250 lbs. and moves up to 900 lbs. using a pallet jack. Mandatory overtime (in excess of 40 hours per week) as needed.
