The Staff Facilities Systems Engineer is accountable for supporting the Disneyland Resort’s Facilities Engineering team to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of power metering and Power Metering Control Systems across a large-scale campus environment. This role ensures the reliable operation of electrical infrastructure supporting critical facilities, while advancing energy efficiency, sustainability, and smart grid integration.
You will spend time with design, system integration and deployment, testing, and creating and revising documentation of these systems. The remaining time will be spent in response of the maintenance team support requests, facility sustainment needs, tool and dashboard/data visualization creation and sustainment, and development and sustainment of the of the power meter control system status reporting tools as well as data and trend analysis.
You will report to the Senior Manager-Facilities Systems Engineering.
Design and maintain Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) for campus-wide energy monitoring and reporting.
Develop and implement control strategies for power distribution systems, including load shedding, demand response, and backup power coordination.
Integrate metering systems with Building Automation Systems (BAS), SCADA platforms, and energy dashboards.
Analyze energy usage trends and system performance to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost savings.
Lead commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of power meters, relays, and control panels across substations and facility switchgear.
Collaborate with Engineer Services, Sustaining Engineering, Facility Asset Management, Project Management, and IT teams to ensure data integrity, cybersecurity, and system interoperability.
Provide technical leadership for capital projects involving electrical infrastructure upgrades or expansions.
Ensure compliance with NEC, Disney Specs and Standards, local utility interconnection standards.
Support emergency response planning and system restoration procedures.
Troubleshoot metering and control wiring.
Develop, maintain, and interpret engineering documentation, such as panel wiring, instrument data sheets, calibration datasheets, hardware, and software configurations.
Provide technical support to field operators, develop engineering documentation and historical reports, train the operation and maintenance teams, and recommend design improvements.
Accurately complete required projects and support maintenance and reactive maintenance work without delays.
Provide timely communication and status updates to Manager, Controls Engineers, and Resort partners.
7+ years of experience in power systems engineering, with a focus on metering and control systems in campus, utility, or industrial settings.
Experience with monitoring electrical power distribution, power metering, PMCS, energy management.
Proficiency with SCADA, PLCs, and communication protocols (e.g., Modbus RTU and TCP/IP, BACnet, and Ethernet IP).
Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems (medium and low voltage), protective relaying, and load management.
Experience with energy management systems (EMS) and utility billing platforms.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Familiarity with LEED, ISO 50001, or other energy certification frameworks.
Experience with the operation of large multi-building campuses, facility, utilities, and controls integration.
AVEVA Wonderware, DAS, and Historian experience.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
