The Role
This is a summer internship opportunity in Cambridge, MA from July 13, 2026 – December 11, 2026. Applicants must be available for the entire duration of the internship. Start date will be July 13, 2026.
The Technical Development organization at Moderna is seeking a highly motivated summer intern to help strengthen the internal systems that enable our teams to execute at speed and scale.
This role will focus on reviewing, optimizing, and enhancing how team activities, milestones, and deliverables are tracked and shared across stakeholders. The intern will evaluate our current infrastructure (including SharePoint, Smartsheet, and other in-house tools), identify improvement opportunities, and implement scalable solutions that increase visibility, consistency, and operational efficiency.
This position provides hands-on experience in operational excellence within a high-growth biotech environment and offers exposure to how manufacturing and development teams coordinate complex programs in support of mRNA therapeutics and vaccines.
Here’s What You’ll Do
Conduct a comprehensive review of the team’s current infrastructure for tracking activities, milestones, and deliverables across ongoing projects.
Map existing workflows and identify gaps, redundancies, and opportunities to streamline tracking systems using internal tools such as SharePoint, Smartsheet, and other enterprise platforms.
Assess how project trackers and dashboards are shared with internal stakeholders and propose improvements to increase transparency, accessibility, and usability.
Partner with internal stakeholders to understand their tracking, reporting, and visibility needs.
Design and implement standardized templates, dashboards, and documentation structures to improve consistency across the team.
Develop recommendations to enhance data governance, version control, and long-term maintainability of team trackers.
Create user guides or best-practice documentation to enable broader adoption of improved systems.
Present findings, proposed improvements, and implemented solutions to team leadership and cross-functional partners.
Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)
Current students enrolled in a Bachelors or Master’s program in Engineering, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Operations, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or a related field
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience organizing data, building trackers, or creating dashboards
Ability to translate stakeholder needs into structured solutions
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
This position is site-based, requiring you to be at Moderna’s site full-time. This position is not eligible for remote work.

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)
GPA of 3.5 on a 4 scale or equivalent
Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within cross-functional
teams.
Experience with SharePoint, Smartsheet, or other workflow/project management tools
