Job Description

The Advanced Data Governance & Strategy Leader role in Corporate Functions Risk is the primary first line of defense risk partner role to enable delivery of U.S. Bank’s data strategy. As a member of the Corporate Functions Risk Data, AI, Model, Information Security & Technology Risk Program leadership team, this role will partner with the Enterprise Data Office, Enterprise Data Governance, and technology teams to drive advanced data governance and data strategy design and implementation across corporate functions.

This risk leader will play a critical role in strengthening U.S. Banks risk data aggregation, reporting capabilities, and advanced analytics enablement in accordance with regulatory standards while supporting transformation initiatives involving cloud, automation, and AI‑enabled risk insights.

Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Coordination

  • Ensure consistent application of advanced data governance standards, policies, and controls across risk domains.
  • Contribute to senior‑level data governance and risk committees, escalating material data issues as appropriate.

Risk Data Strategy & Transformation

  • Define and execute the risk data strategy aligned with the U.S. Banks broader data strategy.
  • Partner with the Enterprise Data office on initiatives to modernize risk data infrastructure, including integration of cloud platforms, data products, and advanced analytics capabilities.
  • Partner with Technology and Architecture teams to ensure scalable, secure, and resilient risk data solutions.

Regulatory & Supervisory Engagement

  • Serve as the primary first line of defense contact for regulators, internal audit, and independent risk management reviews on advanced data governance and data strategy related matters.
  • Lead remediation efforts for regulatory findings and internal issues related to data quality, controls, and governance.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and lead high‑performing teams of data governance, risk data, and analytics professionals.
  • Influence senior stakeholders across the enterprise to adopt consistent data practices and risk‑informed decision‑making.
  • Foster a strong risk and data culture, emphasizing accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to program leads and risk leadership.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Typically more than 12 years of applicable experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in financial services, with significant leadership experience in risk management, data governance, or data strategy within a large, complex institution.
  • Demonstrated expertise in risk data governance concepts, including data quality, lineage, controls, and regulatory reporting.
  • Proven ability to lead large‑scale, cross‑functional transformation initiatives involving technology and data.
  • Executive‑level communication skills with the ability to engage credibly with regulators, auditors, and senior management.
  • Experience managing and developing senior leaders and specialized professional teams.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $149,515.00 - $175,900.00
