The CVI Quality and Clinical Excellence Director is responsible for developing the CVI quality strategic plan with input from multiple stakeholders including cardiology and cardiovascular physicians and administrative leaders. This plan is inclusive for all Endeavor system acute care hospitals and ambulatory locations and is developed to ensure quality, customer focused, cost-effective patient care based on evidence-based practices.

The Director is responsible for and provides leadership, direction and manages a team of individuals who perform data collection and abstraction, data entry, data retrieval, data submission and data analysis of clinical information from multiple data registries and clinical data platforms. The leader synthesizes data, identifies opportunities for improvement, and collaborates with all relevant stakeholders to develop a performance improvement plan. Leads teams to execute the quality plan.

Demonstrates and promotes positive working relationships with physicians, administrators, staff, patients, and visitors.  Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • The CVI Quality Director is a professional with administrative expertise and expert at leading, collaborating and influencing other physicians, nursing, and administrative leaders.
  • Leads collaborative partnerships with the leaders of each vertical entity to execute the CVI quality and performance initiatives.
  • Partners with physician leadership to drive the quality agenda to ensure safe, evidenced-based care is provided at all sites with the best clinical outcomes. 
  • Leads, manages, and develops staff within the CVI quality department.

Minimum Work Experience

Minimum of seven years of health care experience.

Minimum of five years progressive management level experience in a health system setting preferably in quality, patient safety, patient experience or a performance improvement department and eight years of health care experience.

Minimum Education Requirements

Master’s degree in nursing, business, or related health care discipline.

Minimum Licensure Requirements

Licenses/Certifications

  • Registered Nurse or related health field license or certification (if applicable)
  • Preferred Lean Six Sigma certification

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, analytical and motivational skills consistent with effective change management.
  • Focused, results driven, and able to collaborate with and lead others.
  • Demonstrated substantial experience with Performance Improvement teams with proven track record in sustaining desired outcomes.
  • Expert with improvement methodologies: PDSA, LEAN, and Six Sigma. Knowledgeable in the use of Flow Diagrams, Fish Bone Diagrams, Driver Diagrams and Control Charts. Demonstrated experience with data collection, data trending and performance analytics.
  • Demonstrated i knowledge of Crew Resource Training or Team STEPPS principles and their application.
  • Strong computer/statistical measurement and analysis skills with MS Excel and relational database experience.
  • The interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization including physicians and outside agencies.
  • The communication skills necessary to present information in a clear, concise, and persuasive manner to executive physician and administrative leaders.
  • The leadership skills necessary to delegate, plan and supervise the work of others.
  • A very high level of analytics necessary to analyze highly complex sets of data, identify and explain variances, identify opportunities for improvement, and provide input for development of action plans.
