The Deseret News seeks a smart, passionate associate product manager to help us build and grow our portfolio of news-focused websites and mobile applications. This will include extensive work on Church News (thechurchnews.com and apps) as well as other products in our portfolio.

This position will work a hybrid schedule in our offices in Downtown SLC.

As an associate product manager on our team, you can expect to:

• Contribute to product roadmap and strategy by combining analytics and user research with input from business and editorial stakeholders.

• Work day-to-day on a cross-functional product team that includes software engineering and design resources to deliver features and meet goals.

• Develop and define product feature requirements that support the roadmap.

• Understand and evangelize the needs and perspectives of Deseret News readers and customers.

• Stay current with industry trends and understand the competitive landscape.

You are the right fit if you have:

• 1-2+ years of experience.

• A working knowledge of the organization, leaders, doctrine, practices and culture of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

• BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience; any background in technology, communication, business or design could be helpful.

• Familiarity with Agile software development.

• Familiarity with web-based applications.

• An eye for design and a passion for awesome user experience.

You are an even better fit if you have:

• Worked on or with a Scrum team.

• Experience in digital publishing or the news industry.

• Some technical experience or familiarity. We’re not looking for a programmer, but we are looking for someone who can communicate well with them.
