POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Bone Growth Therapies Territory Team Leader will be expected to meet or exceed the territory’s sales quotas by focusing on account penetration, territory management, target tracking, strategic planning, measuring results, etc.   This is a leadership position and will be looked upon to support and execute company policies and procedures in the field while operating within a defined expense budget.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (essential functions of position):

  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, developing, coaching and counseling sales personnel within the territory.  Provide documented consistent feedback on performance and professional behavior.  Identify areas for improvement and facilitate career development.  If necessary, provide feedback and advise the RVP regarding employees not meeting performance expectations.
  • Study and report on developing market trends and competitive activities.  Support payor development strategies.
  • Develop, communicate and execute strategies and plans of action for achievement of sales goals.
  •  Maintain base business and increase market share throughout the territory. 
  • Review and analyze performance for territory personnel, and assist in corrective measures to achieve goals.
  • Prepare reports, execute programs and insure company policies, procedures and healthcare compliance are being followed. 
  • Schedule co-travel days with territory personnel to ensure necessary sales, administration and management support.  Communicate with territory personnel on a weekly basis to discuss sales progress, challenges, necessary support and all other topics which address territory performance.       
  • Build and develop strategic relationships and sell to key customers and payors. 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • A high determination to succeed characterized by a strong work ethic, demonstrated accomplishment of goals and competitive spirit.
  • Demonstrated management skills as measured by verifiable success and job stability in a related medical management capacity or equivalent. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required to articulate clearly and present to individuals and larger groups.
  • Must be able to advise management on policy and procedure issues. 
  • A high level of maturity demonstrated by acceptance of responsibility, level of judgment and decision making, and an ability to be flexible and accept change.
  • Must have interpersonal skills which include a high trust/credibility factor, leadership, presence and poise, empathy for others, and an engaging personality.

NONESSENTIAL SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS (not necessary but preferred):

  • A bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience required.
  • Prior experience in selling/managing in or through the managed health care or third party payor environment is preferred. 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This role will manage direct reports, including Territory Managers, Associate Territory Managers and/or Distributors.

  • Must be able to lift and transport products, literature to customer sites repetitively throughout each day.
  • Lifting capacity approximately 20 to 30 pounds.
  • Travel by auto and plane very frequently up to 20%.
  • Ability to use PC or laptop computer effectively.
  • Eyesight and hearing must be correctable to standard level.
