Position Overview

The Cyber Operations Analyst will be responsible for monitoring, detecting, and responding to cyber threats and incidents affecting Defense Security Cooperation Agency’s (DSCA) information systems. This role involves analyzing security events, implementing defensive measures, and supporting incident response activities to ensure the security and integrity of DSCA’s cyber infrastructure.

Job Responsibilities and/or Success Factors

• Monitor DSCA’s information systems and networks for security breaches, incidents, and threats using advanced security tools and technologies.
• Analyze security alerts and events to determine their impact and develop appropriate response strategies.
• Conduct thorough investigations of security incidents, including root cause analysis and impact assessment.
• Develop and implement incident response plans and procedures to effectively respond to and mitigate security incidents.
• Collaborate with cybersecurity and IT teams to develop and implement security controls and measures to protect DSCA’s information assets.
• Maintain and update security monitoring tools, including intrusion detection systems (IDS), security information and event management (SIEM) systems, and endpoint protection solutions.
• Provide detailed reports and documentation on security incidents, vulnerabilities, and mitigation efforts.
• Participate in threat hunting activities to proactively identify and address potential security risks.
• Stay current with the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies to continuously enhance DSCA’s cyber defense capabilities.
• Assist in the development and delivery of cybersecurity awareness training programs for DSCA personnel.

Education and Minimum Qualifications

• Must be a US Citizen.
• TS/SCI Clearance
• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in cybersecurity operations, threat analysis, or incident response.
• Certifications such as CEH, CISSP, GCIH, or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of network protocols, operating systems, and security architecture.
• Proven experience in using security monitoring tools and technologies, such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection solutions.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex cybersecurity concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in all security operations activities.
