PRN Pharmacy Intern – Ambulatory 


The Cleveland Clinic Department of Pharmacy aspires to be the world leader in pharmacy practice. To do so, we believe in providing world-class experiences that will prepare student pharmacists for their post-graduation goals.   
 

The purpose of the community pharmacy internship program is to develop knowledge and skills in community pharmacy to assist with patient transition from hospital to ambulatory pharmacy care. Community Pharmacy interns will rotate through a variety of outpatient pharmacy settings within the Cleveland Clinic enterprise including main campus, family health centers, and outpatient pharmacies within community hospitals. Experiences will include patient consultation, technical functions, medication therapy management, specialty medication services, technology development, and quality assurance  


A caregiver in this position works days/evenings/nights/weekends between 5:00am – 11:00pm. 


A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Review and assess medication orders to identify, prevent, and resolve potential and actual drug related issues. 

  • Recommend formulary alternatives when appropriate. 

  • Compound and prepare medications for delivery to patient care areas. 

  • Provide drug information and education to medical staff and patients. 

  • Communicate with physicians and other clinicians as necessary to facilitate care. 


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Enrolled in an accredited College of Pharmacy program and meets education requirements to qualify for intern license in the State of Ohio OR International pharmacy experience which meets the requirements to qualify for the Foreign Graduate Pharmacy Intern License. 

  • Current State Board of Pharmacy Intern License (PH/INT) before your start date.

  • Typical physical demands include ability to perform job while standing, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions of job.
