Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks an experienced Systems Engineering Manager-1 for a fast-paced, growing and dynamic position to support our Immersive Mission Solutions (IMS) Operating Unit (OU) headquartered in Orlando, Florida. Northrop Grumman is an industry leader in developing, integrating, and sustaining complex systems for the US Department of Defense.
We are seeking a Manager, Systems Engineering 1, to support the IMS OU Engineering Operations Section Manager. This role splits time between serving as an Engineering Manager for the Network and Field Engineering team within the department and as an engineer supporting activities on one or more assigned programs. In the engineering role you will perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems that could include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
This position will be located in Orlando, FL. Relocation assistance may be available for this position.
Essential Functions:
- Supervisory or management responsibilities for projects engaged in research and/or product development in more than one engineering discipline.
- Functional responsibilities are expected to spend ~20% of the time on direct reports and ~80% as a technical contributor on the program.
- Demonstrate a commitment to ethics and integrity, and the capability to innovate while challenging traditional ways of doing business.
- Will gain experience developing capabilities to build diverse and inclusive teams with high levels of engagement, including mentoring and coaching.
- Work closely with the directors and managers of other engineering disciplines, program directors and program managers.
- Champion change within the organization, to achieve competitive advantage for the business.
- The manager will be responsible for career development, training, 1:1s, feedback, and mentoring approximately 15 direct reports.
- Travel may be required for customer support, technical meetings, event/exercise support.
Basic Qualification:
- Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience in Engineering, Physics, or related field OR 3 years of experience with a Masters' degree OR high school diploma with 9 years of experience in lieu of degree
- Ability to acquire and maintain a Secret Clearance
- Working knowledge of Staffing, Engineering Metrics and Training resources, processes, and tools
- Demonstrate a broad skill set that is balanced between interpersonal, business, and technical capabilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active Secret Clearance
- Proven technical management experience preferably in either program IPT, R&D or Advanced Systems, technology, and/ or functional environments
- Experience effectively leading diverse technical teams across multiple locations
- Knowledge of the Agile and engineering best practices
Salary Range: $109,300.00 - $163,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
