Amentum is currently searching for Machinery Maintenance Mechanics to work at our Sierra Army Depot / Herlong, CA site.

Essential Responsibilities:

The Machinery Maintenance Mechanic repairs machinery or mechanical equipment. Work involves most of the following: examining machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose source of trouble, dismantling or partly dismantling machines and performing repairs that mainly involve the use of hand tools in scraping and fitting parts. Responsibilities include replacing broken or defective parts with items obtained from stock, and ordering the production of a replacement part by a machine shop or sending the machine to a machine shop for major repairs. Duties also include preparing written specifications for major repairs or for the production of parts ordered from machine shops, reassembling machines and making all necessary adjustments for operation. In general, the work of a Machinery Maintenance Mechanic requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. Excluded from this classification are workers whose primary duties involve setting up or adjusting machines.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required.
• Minimum of three to five years' experience required.
• Must be physically capable of; lifting 45 pounds, standing on stepladders, and reaching overhead.
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license to operate Amentum or Government motorized equipment/vehicles.
• Position may require travel.
• Position requires the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
• Must be able to speak, read and understand English.
• This position requires the candidate to pass a pre-employment physical examination and urinary analysis.
• Must be available for any shift, must be willing to work weekends and other hours as needed.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Shop environment, in which mechanical equipment is operated, is loud and noisy, and some pieces of equipment have exposed moving components. Must be able to stand and bend for long periods. Must be able to push and test vehicles and heavy objects. Routine lifting up to 50 pounds, regular handling, grasping, kneeling and carrying, and constant use of vision and mental alertness is required. Occasional use of safety glasses and hearing protection required.

Compensation & Benefits

HIRING HOURLY Rate of Pay:  $32.24 (Hourly rate set by CBA)

In accordance with the established Collective Bargaining Agreement, the hourly wage for this position is as follows:

Current: $32.24

On or around 1/16/2026: $33.13

This position includes a competitive benefits package, to include:

• Employees are provided with $7.25 per hour paid, up to 80 hours per pay period for the purchase of the following benefits:  medical, dental, AD&D insurance, vision, life insurance, long-term disability, employee assistance program, and short-term disability.
• Paid vacation. Annual allotment in the form of a biweekly accrual as follows:  144 hours for 0-5 years of service, 194 hours for 5-10 years of service, 224 hours for 10-15 years of service, and 264 for more than 15 years of service.

• 11 Paid holidays annually (prorated dependent on hire date)
