As a Datacenter Facilities & Equipment Specialist you will engage in customer communication about ongoing and upcoming projects as well as perform any device set-up, installs, or decommissions, including completing all necessary documentation and provide status and completion updates. You will also perform cabling tasks as needed, running both copper and fiber connections throughout the Datacenter. Additionally, as necessary, you will escort vendors and customers for required work and site visits. You will also perform troubleshooting tasks to remediate issues within the datacenter and provide timely and accurate updates on issues and resolution.

 

Datacenter Facilities Services/ Datacenter Equipment Services:

  • Provide onsite 24x7/365 rotation coverage and incident response for data center facilities services  and data center equipment services.

  • Expertise in modern datacenter facilities operations to include environmental controls, security, safety systems, power, backup power systems, and smart building decision systems.

  • Support performing monthly maintenance on generators with training.

  • Conduct or oversee work on datacenter infrastructure systems.

  • Perform facilities inspections of datacenter infrastructure systems.

  • Clean areas around electrical systems.

  • Work with customers daily for miscellaneous tasks, ranging from help desk work to janitorial work.

  • Support in receiving, removing, shipping, cabling, installing, replacing, and maintaining, IT equipment.

  • Support escorting vendors performing needed maintenance.

  • Support determining system and rack level electrical power requirements, hardware placement, installation, move, replacement, and removal activities.

  • Able to create, inventory, and maintain documentation for IT hardware and infrastructure systems.

  • Able to follow instructions, stay on task, and requires little supervision once trained in documented processes.

  • Monitor and ensure adherence to appearance and safety standards.

  • Participates in Agile project management and a DevSecOps culture as required.

  • Ability to coordinate, communicate with engineers, and replace IT components in systems as needed.

  • Keeping an inventory of all 2000+ devices in the data center.

  • Run cat5/cat6 and fiber cables.

  • Deploy servers to server racks.

  • Create and work tickets using remedy.

  • Develop power plans for new devices coming into the data center.

  • Sending out daily shift mail to coworkers to document and inform.

  • Keep watch on alarms in WebControl and correct or escalate them when necessary.

  • Ensure the destruction of storage when necessary during device removal.

 

What You Will Need: 

  • Minimum One (1) year of experience With Equipment and Facilities.

  • Familiarity with Web Control infrastructure monitoring software.

  • Must be able to lift to 70lbs. This position requires physical work as described below in the Physical and Mental requirements section.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills in the English language. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

  • Exceptional customer service skills.

  • Strong time-management and prioritization skills.

  • Ability to communicate applicable technical subject matter to management and others.

  • DISC follows the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) service operation best practices.  ITIL v4 foundation knowledge.

  • Ability to apply and provide feedback on service operation model and practices.

  • Must be US citizen and be able to pass federal background investigation and obtain a Public Trust.

  • Must be willing to work different Shifts duties . Shift will be in rotation, which includes 1st, 2nd and 3rd Shift.

  • Work in confined areas such as crawl spaces, attics, utility pits, tunnels, manholes, and other confined spaces.

  • Work from heights such as rooftops, ledges, scaffolding, including climbing extension ladders and scaffolding.

  • Move and handle heavy objects such as equipment, tools, and other building materials.

  • Speaking and hearing are sufficient to converse and understand conversations, both in-person, telephone, and virtual meetings.

  • The cognitive skills needed to complete tasks, including abilities such as learning, remembering, focusing, categorizing, and integrating information for decision-making, problem-solving, and comprehending.

  • Ability to learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, and the ability to communicate with managers and co-workers.

  • Mental aptitude to respond appropriately in high-pressure situations or deadline-driven environments.

  • Maintain a professional emotional response when working with others.
