Responsibilities
o Review transformer designs (Core, Windings, Winding Assembly, Active Part, Tanking and Final assembly) for manufacturability.
o Ability to work on 3D and 2D tools (Inventor/AutoCAD).
o Modifies design to ensure manufacturability (DFM - Design for manufacturing).
o Ensure product designs are aligned with plant capabilities and production constraints in collaboration with Manufacturing process engineers for each section.
o Works with CAD models and production constraints to ensure proper compatibility in 3D/2D model.
o Creating and optimizing manufacturing processes.
o Often involved early in product design to ensure feasibility.
o Collaborates closely with design engineers.
o Supporting production but improving product design for easier manufacturing and ability to suggest design changes to reduce cost/time.
o Drive value engineering and cost reduction initiatives.
o Design and develop jigs, fixtures, molds, dies and customized tools for easy manufacturability that improves Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
o Work with vendors for fabrication and validation of tools.
o Maintain tooling standards and documentation.
o Create and maintain: Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) , Work Instructions (WI) and CTQs.
o Work closely with: Design engineering ,Procurement (material specs, vendor capability) Quality team & Production for cross-functional collaboration.
o Ensure product designs are aligned with plant capabilities and production constraints in collaboration with Manufacturing process engineers for each section.
o Provide technical support to shop floor and resolve production challenges in collaboration with Manufacturing process engineers for each section.
o Conduct and lead DFMEA and PFMEA
Education and Experience
o Electrical or mechanical engineer or person with experience in Design and Manufacturing (in Power Transformers)
o Experience of working on 3D, 2D tools (Inventor / equivalent, AutoCAD)
o Experience of Document management system (Windchill / equivalent)
o Transformer design knowledge
o Good knowledge about the Power Transformer manufacturing process
o Experience as an industrial engineer with good knowledge of transformer manufacturing process and 2D/3D tools.
