Sanimax is looking for an (onsite) Dispatcher to join our Hamilton team.  Sanimax is a green company that transforms food bi-products (animal, plant or other) into useful products – biofuel, animal feed and leather.

Schedule:  Monday to Friday; 10 am to 7 pm

The person we are looking for to join our Hamilton team as a Dispatcher, will be required to but not limited to the following responsibilities…

Responsibilities:

  • Assign work via our internal system and communicate with drivers for the next day’s routes.
  • Interact with drivers, Customer Service, sales, maintenance, operational staff and customers daily, based on the needs of the business.
  • Receive calls/messages from Customer Service concerning customers; ask questions and understand their respective needs and take action to arrange for recovery service.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally via email, telephone and two-way devices.
  • Communicate with drivers to assist them with problem resolution while on route.
  • Record and document information from drivers and distribute to appropriate departments.
  • Dispatching incoming customer orders, directing drivers, and resolving service issues.
  • Use Sanimax’s internal systems to manage/create/modify orders. 
  • Update tickets daily to track productivity.
  • Track and re-schedule un-serviced customers, utilize our internal system for driver forms to find the reasons and take action.
  • Analyze information on customers and use customer service data in order to correct discrepancies (ex: visit frequency, volumes, types of containers, etc.).
  • Check drivers logs daily to distribute unidentified driving events to the appropriate driver/yard function.
  • Update our driver board daily, be able to read and understand our weekly schedule, put routes in order daily, delete unused orders, track kms and fuel and modify customer templates and time windows based on routers emails.
  • Inform procurement and customers in a proactive manner regarding all service deviations.
  • Address customer service complaints regarding transport issues and escalate where required.
  • Trouble shoot and resolve potential delivery and pickup problems before they result in service issues.
  • Dispatch calls to routes based upon designated route and driver location. 
  • Assist in determining daily level of driver staffing to provide best mix of responsiveness and productivity.
  • Use creativity to develop solutions to make things work.
  • Be available to perform additional responsibilities for the business as required.
  • Multi-tasking is a must to work here.

Experience and skills:

The ideal candidate for this position will need experience and certain skills, including:

  • Completion of high school. Post-secondary courses or diploma would be considered an asset.
  • 1-2 years in a transportation, dispatch or customer service role. Knowledge of industry is an asset.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal skills and customer focus.
  • Detail oriented and focused on accuracy.
  • Proven ability to multi-task is a must & ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, Word and PC operations.
  • Advanced skill level with software applications and word processing accuracy including adequate typing speed.
  • Additional or specialized training in transportation, logistics, or similar area of study; customer service experience in a call center environment.
