We have an opportunity for an Accounting Specialist to be based in Terneuzen (NL) or Milano (IT). The successful candidate, working in a team, will ensure accounting activity recorded within the company’s records and books are accurate and complete.

In this role you will be responsible for recording, reporting, analyzing and communicating functional/business activity results. You will also assist the function/business management teams in financial analysis necessary for decision-making.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the independent processing of financial accounting, monthly/quarterly/yearly closing.
  • Responsible for presenting and reporting key tax figures in accordance with local GAAP and US GAAP.  
  • Prepares year end statutory financial statement, according to local GAAP.
  • Contributes to and monitors accuracy of transaction processing.
  • Monitors, reports, and communicates function/business results.
  • Performs BS, P&L and fixed assets reviews.
  • Supports Internal & External audits.
  • Provides financial analysis to function/business management teams as needed for project studies, options analysis. Establishes and maintains an ongoing working relationship with other sub-processes and functions.
  • Demonstrates technical accounting ability through at least one/two years of directly applicable experience.
  • Helps drive change to reduce complexity in existing work processes and leads small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements.

Requirements:

  • A min Bachelor's degree in Finance/Economics/Business Administration or related field.
  • Min 2-3 years of previous experience in controlling and/or cost accounting.
  • Fluency in Italian and English.

Preferred skills:

  • Experience with ERP systems (i.e. SAP) and reporting tools.
  • Ability to prepare a consolidated financial statement and/or to use Thomson Reuters will be an advantage.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven effective and professional communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal effectiveness.
  • Proactivity attitude, problem-solving, teamwork and analytical thinking.
