The AML Department partners with the business to make decisions and deliver a service that protects and enhances the reputation of the company. This includes managing all areas of financial crime risk, covering money laundering (AML), terrorist funding (CTF) and bribery and corruption (ABC). Our work requires vigilance, understanding, empathy to protect our brand integrity.

The AML department is responsible for ensuring that the business has the requisite knowledge and understanding to ensure it complies with all relevant AML and CTF regulations.  The department provides information, advice and assistance to the business to protect it from AML risk. Another key role of the department is to ensure the business has embedded AML controls across all areas.

As an AML Operations Manager you’ll be supporting the delivery of multiple operational elements of the AML department, including Enhanced Due Diligence, Risk Rating and Transaction Monitoring.  Alongside this, the role will also require oversight of Banking and Payments areas within the Betway AML team, conducting risk assessments across new markets, currencies and payment methods and report all findings to the Betway Board.

What you’ll be doing

As part of your role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Drive the enhancement and assist in embedding of the AML program, including maintenance of policies and procedures, production of management information and updating of the AML risk assessment.
  • Planning for new legislation, including the development of AML, CTF and ABC policies, systems, practices and procedures.
  • Assist with the continued development of the transaction monitoring tool, with clear reporting regarding high-risk customers
  • Maintain and improve the customer risk rating tool, liaising with internal stakeholders and other team members.
  • Conducting risk assessments of new markets/jurisdictions and on existing and new payment processors
  • Producing reports for Board approval

Essential skills you’ll bring to the table

The necessary skills that we require for this role include:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and effectively
  • Experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams, with a focus on achieving shared goals
  • Expertise in managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a track record of delivering on time and within scope
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring high standards of quality in all outputs
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and priorities, maintaining effectiveness in dynamic situations
  • Ideally minimum of 3 years of prior experience in gambling, payments or financial services industry
  • Exceptional organisation and prioritisation skills with proven ability to create strategic plans
  • A proven track record in stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Understanding and knowledge of various global payment methods and systems
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks and risk mitigation strategies
  • Leadership qualities, including acting as a role model and mentoring colleagues

Desirable skills you’ve got up your sleeve

It would be great if you also have some of the following skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of sports betting markets, including odds calculation, betting types and market trends
  • Previous experience in the online gaming or casino industry, with a strong understanding of player behaviour and industry regulations
  • Familiarity with gambling regulations and compliance requirements in various jurisdictions, ensuring adherence to legal standards
  • Experience in developing and executing customer retention strategies
  • Knowledge of the online gaming industry
  • Professional qualifications such as the ICA Diploma in AML
  • Project management and business process improvement experience 
  • Experience of the intelligence cycle or of investigating financial crime
