  • Join a team that is shaping the future of party and customer data management for the bank, where you’ll be a subject matter expert of data modelling and standards for the bank influencing business and technology across franchises and functions
  • You'll be defining the intentional architecture for the bank’s data in in the form of enterprise data model in order to ensure that the current architecture, being delivered by engineers best supports the enterprise and its long term strategy
  • With valuable exposure, you’ll be building and leveraging relationships with colleagues across the bank to ensure commercially focused decisions and to create long term value for the bank

What you'll do

We’re embarking on a new and exciting phase of the bank’s transformation agenda and party, customer and reference data architecture are at the heart of our mission to simplify, reduce risk and enable customer engagement and personalisation. This agenda is critical to driving simplification and delivering exceptional experience to our customers.

As an Enterprise Architect for modelling, you’ll be defining and communicating the data modelling strategy and the current, resultant and target state enterprise data model for the bank. You’ll also be making sure that the data modelling strategy and the enterprise data model links to, and is informed by our overall strategy and architecture, and produces the architecture outcomes.

We’ll look to you to influence the development of business strategies at an organisational level, within your function and across the bank, identifying transformational opportunities for our businesses and technology areas associated with both new and existing technologies. You’ll support adoption, enforcement and governance of enterprise data model and data standards across the bank and act as the expert in data modelling for the bank.

In addition, you’ll also:

  • Influence, support and govern enterprise data model and data standards ensuring these meet the bank’s business and data strategy demand
  • Act as the main data architecture point of contact for the franchise and functions assigned to your engagement scope
  • Identify gaps in data architecture culture and skills across your areas of management and support plans to resolve and providing mentorship where necessary
  • Translate data modelling strategy and roadmaps into packages of work that allow frequent incremental delivery of value to be included in product backlog
  • Work closely with business owners, portfolio managers, product managers and release managers to define the target intentional architecture
  • Stay abreast of the current state of the data design and data model of the bank

The skills you'll need

To succeed in this role, you’ll need expert knowledge and experience of enterprise data modelling and data architecture, and in-depth knowledge of business, data management and application architecture with a good knowledge of the remaining architecture disciplines.

You’ll have excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to colleagues up to senior leadership level, along with a good understanding of Agile methodologies with experience of working in an Agile team. You’ll also have financial industry business data knowledge as well as data modelling and metadata management technology knowledge.

Furthermore, you’ll need:

  • Experience of developing, syndicating and communicating data and information models, designs and proposals for action
  • Knowledge of financial industry data models with an in-depth knowledge of conceptual, logical and physical data modelling
  • An understanding of industry architecture frameworks, such as TOGAF and ArchiMate
  • Knowledge of three or more industry data modelling frameworks Relational, ER, NoSQL including Document, Key-Value, Column, Graph and Event Modelling, Data Class Modelling, Ontology Modelling, Data Vault and Hybrid Data Modelling
  • Experience with data products, data modelling, metadata management, data design technologies and solutions and software engineering
  • To be a self-starter carrying a passion for data architecture transformation
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills coupled with strong problem-solving skills
