Water Quality (‘WQ”) Platform is part of the Environmental & Applied Solutions reporting segment and is a global leader in water quality analysis and treatment, providing instrumentation and disinfection systems to help analyze and manage the quality of ultra-pure water, portable water, wastewater, groundwater and ocean water in residential, commercial, industrial, and natural resource applications. About Role

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with US GAAP and Malaysian statutory requirements. The role supports financial close, reporting, tax compliance, and audit processes, while ensuring strong internal controls and process integrity across the organization.

What You'll Be Doing (Job Responsibilities)

1. Financial Close & Reporting

  • Manage general ledger accounting and reconciliation
  • Month end closing entries like provisions, prepayments, allocation and cross charge accounting.
  • Ensure timely closing of books for the month, quarter and year, by finalizing the Trial balance after thorough verification.
  • Prepare, review, and validate balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all reconciling items are properly supported    and commented for any unreconciled variances.
  • Ensure completeness, accuracy, and integrity of financial data prior to reporting submission
  • Prepare financial statements in compliance with US GAAP
  • Support group reporting packages, including consolidation and intercompany eliminations
  • Perform cost analysis with historical trends and variability to revenue and provide comments in monthly reporting.
  • Ensure proper cut-off, revenue and expense recognition, and adherence to accounting standards
  • Maintain strong documentation and audit trail for all financial reporting processes
  • Support implementation of new accounting policies or changes in US GAAP requirements
  • Costing & Margin Analysis
  • Ensure audit readiness at all times, including:
    • Maintaining well-organized support schedules and reconciliations
    • Ensuring all balance sheets are fully substantiated
    • Preparing audit-ready documentation and lead schedules ahead of audit cycles
    • Proactively identifying and resolving potential audit issues

2. Compliance, Tax & Audit

  • Ensure compliance with MFRS and Malaysian statutory requirements
  • Support tax filings (SST, corporate tax) and liaise with tax agents
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, including audit schedules and resolution of findings
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure adherence to company policies (including SOX)

3. Operational Support & Process Improvement

  • Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations across entities
  • Support regulatory and management reporting, budgeting, and ad-hoc analysis
  • Maintain effective internal control environment and ensure compliance with corporate policies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (AP, AR, FP&A, Treasury)
  • Drive process improvements, system enhancements (e.g., Oracle), and efficiency initiatives
  • Provide timely and accurate financial information to support decision-making.
  • Act as a key contact point for finance-related queries within the organization

What We Are Looking For (Skills & Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 5-6 years of experience in GL accounting and financial reporting
  • Professional certification (ACCA, CPA, ICAEW) is an advantage
  • Experience working in an MNC and exposure to US GAAP is a must
  • Experience in Malaysia statutory reporting and tax environment is essential
  • Exposure to SOX/internal controls framework
  • Experience with ERP systems (preferably Oracle, SAGE, AccPac or similar)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience of OneStream/Hyperion, Blackline will be preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
