Nursing Clinical Clerical - Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus is a Level IV, state-of-the-art 17-bed intensive care unit designed to care for newborns with the most complex medical problems. Our dedicated and highly trained caregivers deliver world-class patient care through an intricate nursing care model that is rooted in evidence-based practice and always puts patients first. Our goal is that all our caregivers provide patients with the highest quality, safest care possible. 
 

A caregiver in this position works 7:00AM – 7:30PM.  


A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide patient care under the direction of an RN.  

  • Assist with data collection and treatments.  

  • Perform administrative functions for the unit.  

  • Observe and report changes in patients’ condition.  

  • Document activities in the patient care record.  

  • Assist with transporting and discharging patients.  

  • Transcribe and process all orders.  

  • Prepare, maintain and process all charts, filed, records and mail.  

  • Maintain inventory.  


Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • A high school diploma or GED.  

  • Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). All other applicants are required to obtain this within the new hire period.  

  • Basic computer skills.  


Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Completion of a medical assisting course.  

  • State Tested Nurse Assistant (STNA).  

  • Previous healthcare and patient care experience in a hospital.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
