The responsibilities for this role include:
•Manage underwriters directly, monitoring progress on goals and objectives
•Achieve production goals including profitability. Manage monthly production process
•Drive facility and program new business opportunities
•Track monthly, quarterly, and annual metrics, including, but not limited to: GPW, NPW,rate, new business, lost business and submissions.
•Ensure FL underwriting strategy provided by PCM is implemented in line with what required for Italy
•Develop Financial Lines MLC, Munis & Legal expenses Underwriting strategy to achieve a profitable growing portfolio that matches customer demand, including channel and go-to-market strategy
•Ensure that underwriters act within agreed decision making standards, limitations, and underwriting authority
•Ensure an effective referral process for accounts
•Maintain a pipeline of products for development or updating. Be aware of changes in laws pertains to insurance and/or potential relevant profit centre products.
•Implement all regional and global products that impact his line of business in a timely manner
• Ensure timely reporting of estimate performance
• Ensure compliance with key regulatory and risk management responsibilities
• Retain talented people by creating opportunities for personal development of underwriters; ensuring training of underwriters; and providing mentoring and career guidance as necessary.
• Develop a clear sales and marketing plan for key growth lines of business
• Constantly review underwriting processes to achieve operational efficiencies
• Build key relationships with all key brokers
• Implement and grow alternative sources of business
• Ensure Underwriting Excellence is used and accurate (Raters, Peer Reviews, AQI etc)
What we’re looking for:
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills are essential
• Ability to deal well with ambiguity, conflict and difficult situations.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities and deal with change in a pro-active and positive manner.
• Solid leadership and or managerial experience with the ability to make decisions
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast passed and dynamic environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships at all levels
