About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer I with strong experience in search platforms and AI‑enabled discovery to help design, build, and evolve highly scalable, high‑quality software solutions. This role focuses on delivering robust search and relevance capabilities while contributing to AI readiness through modern retrieval and evaluation techniques.

You will work closely with engineers, product partners, and stakeholders to translate complex requirements into reliable, production‑ready systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable software components supporting search and discovery platforms

  • Develop and evolve indexing pipelines, query services, and relevance configurations

  • Implement and review complex bug fixes, including relevance regressions and indexing defects

  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate product and search UX requirements into technical solutions

  • Perform code reviews and contribute to clean architecture, secure coding, and observability best practices

  • Tune search relevance using boosting, ranking, evaluation metrics, and A/B testing

  • Operate and optimize SolrCloud environments, including performance, capacity, and stability

  • Support AI‑assisted discovery patterns such as RAG and semantic augmentation over search indexes

  • Define, track, and improve search quality KPIs including relevance, latency, and coverage

  • Mentor and support less‑senior engineers on search fundamentals, best practices, and evaluation techniques

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with ownership of production systems

  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C#/.NET, Java, Python, or JavaScript/TypeScript

  • Strong hands‑on experience delivering search platforms (Apache Solr preferred; Elasticsearch/OpenSearch acceptable)

  • Knowledge of modern development practices including CI/CD, testing, containers, and monitoring

  • Demonstrated experience shipping AI‑enabled capabilities such as semantic search, RAG, or LLM integrations

  • Deep understanding of search concepts including indexing strategies, querying, relevance tuning, and evaluation

  • Experience with Solr schema design, analyzers, indexing workflows, and query optimization

  • Understanding of data modeling principles and multiple data storage systems

  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders

  • Awareness of data governance, PII handling, and AI risk considerations
