Position Overview:

Experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in HVAC and refrigeration systems. The ideal candidate will possess at least 5 years of experience in the field, with advanced proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD. This role is critical in ensuring effective communication of design and operational details to various stakeholders, including customers, consultants, installation teams, and subcontractors. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for coordinating the creation of drawings and equipment schedules, managing field changes, and preparing comprehensive documentation for system operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Documentation: Provide detailed information and submittals to communicate design and operational details to customers, consultants, the Johnson Controls field installation team, and subcontractors.
  • Drawings and Schedules: Coordinate the creation of necessary drawings and equipment schedules using Revit and AutoCAD for submittals and installation.
  • Field Changes and As-Built Drawings: Gather field changes from the project team and generate accurate as-built drawings.
  • Documentation Preparation: Prepare and maintain proper documentation and manuals for system operation.
  • Communication: Keep management and Johnson Controls contractors or customers informed of job progress and any issues.
  • Technical Expertise: Utilize expertise to generate Bills of Materials (BOM) and Bills of Quantities (BOQ) through Revit for all electro-mechanical materials including pipes, fittings, cables, cable trays, valves, etc.
  • Custom Revit Blocks: Create and manage custom blocks in Revit for various types of machines and piping.
  • HVAC Selection and Design: Make informed HVAC equipment selections and perform pipe sizing.
  • Valves and Pump Calculations: Demonstrate knowledge of valve types and perform calculations for head and flow in water pumps.
  • Coldstore Construction: Apply knowledge of coldstore construction and heat load calculations.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in HVAC and refrigeration engineering.
  • Software Proficiency: Minimum of 4 years of experience with Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in generating BOM and BOQ automatically through Revit; capable of creating custom blocks for machines and pipes; knowledgeable in HVAC equipment selection, pipe sizing, valve types, and pump calculations.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Strong ability to prepare detailed documentation and operational manuals; proficient in using Excel for complex calculations and data management.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with various stakeholders and keep them informed about project status and issues.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Gender: Female (preferred, but not required)
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English, both spoken and written, to effectively communicate with international clients and suppliers.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with additional design and calculation software tools.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for HVAC and refrigeration systems.
