Job Summary
Coordinates the registration process for Patient Access which include scheduling, verifying insurance, collecting payments, answering phones, and entering and maintaining patient data and demographics in the database.

Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:
• Provide leadership to department staff which may include coaching, managing corrective actions, and resolving conflict or escalated patient matters
• Facilitate patient check in(s), verify insurance eligibility and apply payments appropriately
• Manage Patient Financials using Experian
• Manage employee time and attendance in Kronons
• Participate in hiring, evaluation, and peer review process
• Hold Bill/Denial Management
• Perform data integrity audits

Education and Experience-
• High School Diploma or GED
• +2 years in a patient access role, or similar administrative role performing patient registration and/or scheduling

Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations
• N/A

Skills and Abilities-
• Excellent customer service skills; Must speak, read, and write English fluently
• Demonstrate organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Basic knowledge of office management systems and procedures.
• Ability to operate general office equipment.
• Ability to maintain confidential information.
• Ability to handle problems, interruptions, and other stressful situations in a professional manner.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge and adheres to department and UMC Policies & Procedures.

Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
Interacts with all visitors to the department which may be patients, family members or staff from other departments within UMC or TTUHSC.

Physical Capabilities
Should be able to lift 10 lbs. Work involves walking and at times, prolonged periods of sitting. Work requires frequent sitting and walking. Stressful atmosphere at times with many emotional demands. Must possess near visual acuity to read documents and computer records.

Environmental/Working Conditions
Position is indoors and not prone to hazardous materials but may experience constant changing indoor temperatures
