The Senior Manager, Program Management will be critical to the successful implementation of processes and technologies enabling the Product and Technology organization to deliver against strategic business objectives. In this role, you will be a leader and integrator for better decision-making, helping business leaders apply resources to the right outcomes at the right time, focusing the organization on work that matters and serving as the glue that keeps the organization aligned in times of change.  As a Senior Technical Program Manager at MX, you will use your technical expertise to lead a team of Program Managers to deliver complex portfolio areas with high strategic importance and ensure success against business goals. You and your team will work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage program schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You should be equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers. 

Experience working with product driven programs including growth markets, product features, customized product delivery and contract SLAs is essential to the overall success of this role. Day to day work will include developing long/medium/short term goals to achieve business outcomes, defining roles and responsibilities for executing on goals, driving dependency mapping and resolution, mitigating risks, ROI, communicating status and tracking metrics against goals.

This role will require the driving of alignment across cross functional technical and
non-technical teams in multiple geographic regions. A working technical background including architecture, observability, networking, DevOps, and security is required.

Job Duties

  • Manage a team of Technical Program Managers to ensure alignment of standards, processes, communication and delivery against business goals of large-scale, cross-organization programs, integrations, and migration efforts.

  • Define/manage a program portfolio solving problems that target high business impact for the organization and product area.

  • Identify KPIs and success metrics, collect and analyze data; make information visible to all stakeholders across the organization.

  • Establish a reliable and visible cadence for program reviews, decision-making, prioritization, and Resource Stewardship (effective deployment of machine and people resources) whereby improvements such as efficiency and utilization gains are measurable and the impact can be felt organization wide. 

  • Implement communications standards across a portfolio of programs including executive and key stakeholder communications which can be used to provide executive level guidance on execution roadmaps, portfolio status, program direction, risks and decisions needed to execute on strategic initiatives. 

  • Create and refine processes when necessary; maintain focus on reliability and continual improvements, and automation and scaling

  • Seek out and identify change management opportunities that increase program velocity and which affect multiple teams. 

  • Work with teams to clarify goals and deliverables; bring data to planning and prioritization

  • Collaborate with Sales, Product Management, Finance, Program Management, Go To Market and Engineers to create Portfolio and Program execution roadmaps, manage critical dependencies, mitigate risks, drive planning and execute deliverables to achieve business objectives.

  • Work with stakeholders to ensure Program level documentation is created including general overviews, architectural diagrams, user guides, integration guides, developer guides, and platform documentation.

  • Gain understanding of any new technology to lead technical programs and effectively drive discussions/decisions around any technical challenges.


 

Basic Requirements

  • Solid technical background with educational experience in computer science, an engineering discipline, mathematics, information systems, or equivalent work experience. 

  • 15+ years of experience in technical program management in a dynamic and highly technical environment, a strong track record in managing complex cross-functional projects in a cloud/SaaS environment, and domain expertise in infrastructure and/or SRE preferred

  • 8+ years experience managing a direct team preferred

  • Exhibit strong portfolio and program management skills encompassing strategic planning, resource and financial planning, risk mitigation, personnel management, and executive support , all with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Strong communication skills with a technical and non-technical audience, across a variety of leadership levels, attention to detail and enjoy working in an innovative environment.

  • Experience working collaboratively across organizations; strong leadership and interpersonal skills, experience building and fostering effective working relationships.  

  • Be the driving force that collaborates with business and technical teams across MX to ensure your teams deliver extraordinary solutions that are highly scalable, secure, and flexible - all the while maintaining a strong customer focus.

  • Experience driving complex programs with a data-driven approach to program management; building tools (workflows, custom work intake processes, estimation models), collecting and analyzing data, and driving stakeholder buy-in

  • Experience influencing without direct authority at senior levels internal and external to the engineering organization

  • The ability to slice through ambiguity and drive clarity where confusion exists; demonstrating technical expertise with strong eye for business

  • Enhance resources for the greater good of the organization, identify inefficient processes or waste and redirect resources as vital

  • Apply standard methodologies to the software development lifecycle (SDLC) for programs based on experiences with a number of agile and blended approaches, as well effectively coordinating the implementations across teams using very different approaches.



 

Advanced Requirements (not required)

  • 5+ years’ experience in the financial services, corporate, or investment banking industry is preferred.

  • 3+ years’ experience in a technical role including but not limited to TechOps, SRE, DevOps, Networking Engineer.

  • Experience in systemic change management.

Compensation

The expected earnings for this role could be comprised of a base salary and other forms of cash compensation, such as bonus or commissions as applicable. The base salary is $151,500 to $181,750. This pay range is just one component of MX's total rewards package. MX takes a number of factors into account when determining individual starting pay, including job and level they are hired into, location, skillset, peer compensation.

We utilize a hybrid work arrangement style, which may require both local and remote team members to be in the office when necessary, to kick off projects, hold cross team strategy meetings, or complete key deliverables. Remote team members will travel into the office four times per year, and MX covers travel expenses associated with this requirement.
