The Graphic Designer Co-op Student will be responsible for assisting with video content creation across the Creative Team. The successful candidate will support the video pre-production process, studio and digital production, post-production and working with stakeholders, as well as administrative and organizational tasks. They will be part of an experienced and forward-thinking marketing team and contribute to the overall success of the organization.  

What would my main duties be? 

  • Work cooperatively with other functional areas within Marketing to support campaign and media generation. 
  • Help maintain a professional, organized studio environment. 
  • Assist in video and audio production, primarily in-studio, as well as remote support for event production. 
  • Assist in post-production and creation, such as editing, audio design, and motion graphic design. 
  • Work directly with the Creative team to optimize video post-production and learn the different ways to structure corporate video.  
  • Work with Marketing on effective video strategies and the creative process. 

Work Experience: 

  • Understanding of good composition, storytelling, and basic video production processes. 
  • Knowledge of the use of social media (emphasis on video) in a business-to-business environment. 
  • Ability to create positive external and internal cross-functional relationships  
  • Strong written and oral communication skills through multiple mediums and for a wide range of audiences across industry sectors, geographies and audiences 
  • Understanding of the importance of video in marketing.  
  • Team player who is both flexible and adaptable. 
  • Experience shooting, designing and editing video content, with emphasis on short-form content for social channels. 
  • Comfort with technical tasks, such as working with equipment, script formatting, spreadsheets. 

Other Requirements and Assets:   

  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with rapidly changing priorities 
  • Understanding of the basic elements and principles of design. 
  • Strong analytical and research skills 
  • Attention to detail 

Education Recommendations  

Student enrolled in video production, broadcasting, digital media, marketing or communications with the following competencies:     

  • Advanced communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills  
  • Excellent communication writing and/or copywriting skills  
  • Exceptional organizational skills including multi-tasking and time management  
  • High attention to detail  
  • Ability to learn quickly, think fast under pressure, and work independently in fast-paced environment  
  • Beginner-to-intermediate experience with the Adobe suite such as Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition 
  • Creative mindset and stamina to try new things and figure out how to continuously improve 
  • Experience with Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator Figma, or other design tools would be an asset. 
  • Experience with motion graphics, 3D modelling, or additional animation practices would be an asset.

The expected weekly salary range for a student hire in this role is listed below. The base salary offered is determined by each candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, education, training and experience. It is aligned to ensure both internal and external competitiveness using market data for the geographic location and school specific salary surveys.
