As a Buyer supporting Manufacturing, you will be responsible for managing the purchasing process, and for ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services to support operations at Sinking Spring, PA.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Source and procure indirect purchases: machine parts, spare parts, maintenance services, office supplies, and other necessary items to support manufacturing.
  • Select suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability.
  • Process orders and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Obtain quotes from suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Use company credit card (Pcard) for purchases and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Manage monthly reconciliation of Pcard transactions using Concur.
  • Utilize Guided Buying processes to accurately enter purchase orders (P.O.s) into SAP.
  • Approve invoices for payment, particularly for service related P.O.s.
  • Ensure all P.O.s are fulfilled and paid, addressing any issues promptly.
  • Respond to monthly Overdue PO Notification emails and resolve Past Due Guided Buying P.O. Reports.
  • Address monthly emails listing Blocked Invoices and resolve issues.
  • Provide monthly accrual information as required.
  • Onboard new suppliers and ensure all necessary documentation is completed.
  • Maintain and update supplier information as needed.
  • Obtain Tax Exempt Certificates and Certificates of Liability for vendors as required.

What You’ll Bring to Alcon:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +8 yrs; Assoc.+4 yrs)
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a purchasing or procurement role.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in using procurement systems and tools (e.g., Concur).
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reconciliation.
