Job Description
The Technical Consultant supports our strategy for Warehouse & Material Handling industries and applications. Reporting to the Industry Consultant Team Lead, you will be a focal point for application knowledge, technical understanding of our portfolio (both software & hardware) for machine builders, SIs and end users.
You will apply your domain expertise of Intelligent Devices, SCADA, data orchestration, digital modeling and other technical skills to solve customer problems and create a competitive advantage for our customers.
What You Will Do:
- Working alongside sales, meet with customers to understand their desired business outcomes translating those into product recommendations, applications, and system/architectural recommendations
- Examples include technical suitability reviews, cost/performance evaluation, migration considerations, proof of concepts, competitive analysis, short-term program management, and customer application/demo assistance.
- Be the technical lead and domain expert for WHS global accounts and selected strategic accounts. Develop Connected Enterprise best practice guidelines and success stories.
- Examples may include mapping out product uses across several layers of Rockwell's technology stack.
- Work with GSM resources focused on WHS/Material Handling industries and applications to support planning and prioritization of activities and strategies
- Develop and execute complementary training of customer personnel on features / benefits, capabilities, performance, and applications specific to their application.
- Understand how industry 4.0 and digitization solutions can be leveraged in WHS and Material Handling applications.
- Develop portfolio alignment strategies of Rockwell Automation products for target application solutions. Assist in requirements definitions based on voice of the customer (VOC) where solutions development is required.
- Support the Industry leaders on Business Strategy Review (BSR) development to drive product and portfolio roadmap planning.
- Contribute to product requirements and roadmaps, and project delivery best practices to meet the needs of WHS/Material Handling customers.
- Spearhead the exchange of best practices and process control knowledge within GSM and delivery team by sharing domain expertise, VOC, and how RA technology should be positioned.
- Develop or contribute marketing collateral, customer presentations, demo requirements, event tradeshows, industry publications and white papers, application notes, etc.
- Responsible for regional project coordination of certain technical engagements.
- Examples may include communications of technical implementation issues, project notification and tracking, service delivery or OEM coordination and customer support plan development.
- Provide technical consulting for key process applications and projects during all project stages including but not limited to standards development, FAT, commissioning and troubleshooting for key process application issues.
The Essentials - You will have:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to travel 35-50% of time domestically and some internationally.
- Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future.
The Preferred - You may also have:
- BSc degree in an Engineering discipline or related technical field or equivalent work experience.
- Typically requires at least 5 years' experience in applying automation and/or information solutions for WHS/Material Handling.
- Mechatronic experience.
- Knowledge of control systems including PLCs, SCADA and data integration.
- Experience with technical sales support or consulting.
- Familiarity with customer-centric selling, outcome-based selling, or equivalent sales process for solution selling.
- A practical understanding of relevant standards including safety, cyber security and sustainability.
- Expertise around smart machine concepts (Industry 4.0, IIoT) and understanding of the Rockwell Automation Connected Enterprise strategy.
- Experience developing, supporting and implementing Industrial IoT digital transformation strategies.
- Able to communicate to executive and technical audiences the value of our process solutions, information systems and associated industry standards and methodologies used in process control systems.
- Experience with project management, project lifecycle execution, & commissioning of control system projects.

For this role, the total target compensation is from $135,280.00- $202,920 of which 80% is base salary and 20% is variable.
Actual pay will be based on factors such as skills, knowledge, education, and experience.
