As a Sr Procurement/Sourcing Specialist, you'll drive execution of complex category strategies and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize supply chain performance, reduce costs, and ensure continuous improvement. The Sr. Category Specialist - Indirect Procurement provides consultative insights into new value generation opportunities to Procurement leadership, category and business teams.  Performs program assessment, critical metric analysis, data aggregation and evaluation of key category insights driven by market   , business process, financial, group/divisional level requirements to deliver incremental procurement value across the corporation. This is a foundational role that will enable the right candidate to build a career trajectory into procurement category management through close working alignment with these cross functional teams. This role will drive indirect program growth, governance, and business integration. This role supports the global indirect procurement team with business process and program analytics on high value strategic spend programs. Strong procurement expertise is required to effectively coordinate and understand complex program data sets  (multi site, multi format, multi supplier, decentralized operation) to identify improvement opportunities in support of indirect strategic initiatives ensure program compliance and value pull through. Key Focus areas include development, coordination, organization of key insights to capture incremental indirect value.  This will require close partnership and coordination with the indirect category teams, procurement analytics team and division procurement partners to acquire a solid understanding and subject matter expertise on all key data requirements.  Forward-looking thinking to identify and generate key insights on future potential based on spend, savings and market related data.

SCALE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads global category programs in excess of 700M that require multi region / multi source / multi stakeholder collaboration and coordination
  • Develop and deliver executive-level presentations to propose and obtain support for key initiatives, provide implementation updates, and demonstrate delivery of value.   
  • Evaluates operational supplier metrics to drive improvements to strategic programs, and supports category teams in managing supplier relationships to increase value 
  • Performs data discovery, analysis and modeling to identify value, develop business cases, perform financial and options analysis, identify target objectives and create implementation/resource plans to ensure projects contribute to the organization
  • Responsible for the monthly Value Capture Key Process Indicator reporting process, monthly communication plan on initiatives impacting the global programs
  • Reports on key targets, projects, pipeline (with Group/Category visibility), and AOP financial targets, including adoption of a standard tool and processes
  • Coordinates data sets from multiple sources, formats, and processes to synthesize and develop key program insights to drive ongoing program and category value
  • Uses business partner inputs and knowledge of existing systems and constraints to
  • Develop standard reporting requirements, drive process improvements for indirect procurement across divisions, countries, sites
  • Analyze process issues and bottlenecks

TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Writes clear and well-structured business requirements/documents
  • Collaborates with Sites to gather key sourcing / program requirements, gain sign-off on supplier selections operational proposals and awards
  • Rationalizes and uses the vendor base on a category / program basis, measure and improves internal and external program "compliance" to the corporate contracts
  • Consolidates and synthesizes key data sets from multiple sources to develop programs/insights to deliver category value
  • Tracks and monitors timely completion of project targets within the portfolio, plan vs. actual and report that progress as required
  • Uses Lean/ Practical Process Improvement methodologies  to drive continuous improvement

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Proactively engages with team members to identify and document resource constraints
  • Influences key partners to achieve key targets on time and within plan, develop relationships within the company to complete assigned projects
  • Facilitates breakthrough thinking by integrating diverse views while participating in targeted content deep dive sessions to enable problem solving
  • Collaborates with Procurement Enablement on reporting cadences to achieve a single source of truth  for the savings pipeline and inflation

HOW WILL YOU GET HERE?

Education

·         Bachelor’s degree or higher in business analysis, business administration, finance or related field

·         Certification in Project Management is desirable

Experience

·         5+ years of procurement category management, commodity sourcing, indirect project sourcing, and purchasing 

·         3+ years program/project management experience within a consultancy organization or within a consulting capacity

·         Experience working in a matrix-based procurement environment, driving program analytics, program management and executing strategic procurement initiatives

·         Experience negotiating and formulating business requirements

·         Business Analyst experience focused on cost assessments, low cost sourcing, Return on Investment development, supplier performance

·         Experience analyzing procurement data to draw business relevant conclusions and in data visualization techniques and tools

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities 

·         Robust project management skills and capabilities (Gantt charts, dashboards, key deliverables, business case and baseline development)

·         Shown experience in eliciting requirements and testing 

·         Consistent track record and experience in analysis using data to draw business-relevant conclusions and in data visualization techniques and tools

·         Strong written and verbal communication skills for structure ideas in a clear and concise manner

·         Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills

·         Able to lead change and effectively communicate with and present to Senior Leadership

·         Strong financial competence and ability to make recommendations on and deliver assigned projects

·         Ability to lead matrix project teams of peers and other partners and navigate within a matrix environment

·         Multi-tasking skills and planning for prioritizing personal workload

·         Demonstrated success in developing and fostering relationships with suppliers while driving lower costs, superior performance, and continuous improvement


REQUIREMENTS:
• Advanced Degree plus 6 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 8 years of experience in procurement/sourcing in large multinational organizations
• Preferred Fields of Study: Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field
• Project Management certification desired
• CPSM, CPIM, or equivalent procurement certification preferred
• Demonstrated expertise in strategic sourcing, category management, and supplier relationship management
• Strong analytical and financial acumen with ability to develop business cases and drive cost savings
• Project management capabilities and experience managing complex, global initiatives
• Proven negotiation skills and ability to influence in matrix environment
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and project management tools
• Experience with ERP systems, spend analytics, and e-sourcing platforms
• Strong communication and presentation skills for engaging stakeholders at all levels
• Ability to work collaboratively across global, cross-functional teams
• Experience in life sciences, biotech, pharmaceutical or regulated industries preferred
• Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
• Travel 10-50% as required by role
• Fluency in English required; additional languages beneficial
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple high-value projects simultaneously
• Experience with supplier quality management systems and regulatory compliance
