Organizational Overview:
This team is responsible for the design of data solutions for the Governance, Risk and Compliance team, utilizing progressive ideas and strategies for managing the flow and storage of information across the enterprise.
Role Summary/Purpose:
Working under the general direction of the Development Manager, the Data Warehouse Developer will help lead the design of data solutions for the Governance, Risk and Compliance team, utilizing progressive ideas and strategies for managing the flow and storage of information across the enterprise. In this role, you will provide conceptual, architectural, and technical expertise for all aspects of the company’s data warehouse initiatives. With hands-on guidance and expert advice as part of a team responsible for the design, development, integration, tuning and production support of the data warehouse stack: data management and modeling, ETL, operational data store, data warehouse and DataMart’s, you will enhance data quality and bring technology discipline that will enable the growth and success of the organization. The Developer will work closely with IT and functional teams to recommend database structures based on the data storage and retrieval needs within each data domains. As part of a cross functional development team, you will works closely with the product/business owners to provide technical solution and support in a very dynamic and challenging environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Develops and maintains relationships with business, IT leaders, developers, architects and other stakeholders to define/deliver services required for continuity of critical Data environments and processes.
- Major responsibility will be to analyze business requirements in various business functional areas and translate them into conceptual, logical and physical data models.
- Proficient in Pentaho and/or SSIS and experience with other ETL technologies desirable
- Design and modify DataMart supporting business needs and configuration changes using knowledge of data warehouse principles, architectures and technologies in the context of Risk data requirements.
- Creating star, snowflake data models utilizing best practices and implementing them according to current and future data volumes/requirements as well as for the reporting application used to provide the information to the business user.
- Familiar with and follow process for agile data warehouse development.
- Define logical and physical data model structures to store, integrate, govern, and maintain data in a secure and efficient manner while maintaining accuracy of the data in the departmental data warehouse/DataMart. /enterprise data lake.
- Map to information entities that can define how information should flow and be consumed by various business functions and IT customers. Create and own Data Flow Diagrams for data movement.
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Minimum 4+ years’ experience with data warehouses and big data platforms with hands-on experience
- Proficient in Pentaho and/or Talend and experience with other ETL technologies desirable
- Rigorous data analysis through SQL in Oracle and various Cloud Native technologies.
- Hands-on experience with data modeling of refined data layers on top of raw data.
- Performance Optimization of the physical models in the data lake.
Desired Skills/Knowledge:
- Background in Financial Services
- Hands-on experience writing shell scripts, complex SQL queries, Hive scripts, Hadoop commands and Git
- Ability to write abstracted, reusable code components
- Programming experience in at least one of the following languages: Scala, Java or Python Analytical mindset
- Willingness and aptitude to learn new technologies quickly
Eligibility Criteria:
- Master's / Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of experience in a quantitative field (such as Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Econometrics) and Information Technology experience. Or in lieu of a degree 8+years of experience in Information Technology experience.
- Mandatory Skill set : Shell Scripting, Pentaho, HIVE , ORACLE , PYTHON, BIG DATA , HADOOP , MYSQL , AWS , GCP
WORK TIMINGS :
This role qualifies for Enhanced Flexibility and Choice offered in Synchrony India and will require the incumbent to be available between 06:00 AM Eastern Time – 11:30 AM Eastern Time (timings are anchored to US Eastern hours and will adjust twice a year locally). This window is for meetings with India and US teams. The remaining hours will be flexible for the employee to choose. Exceptions may apply periodically due to business needs.
