Field Service Technician - Portables/Diesel

Reports to:

Field Service Manager

Summary of the position:

The Field Service Technician is responsible to perform routine, preventative maintenance and repairs on air compressors, dryers, and ancillary equipment at customer sites and provide a complete solution to the customers industrial equipment maintenance needs.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Perform routine, preventative maintenance and minor repairs on all brands of electric and diesel air compressors, dryers, and ancillary equipment in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations (with regards to schedule and scope).

• Loading and unloading trucks with forklift.

• Travel to field jobsites to assist in commissioning, and advanced troubleshooting and repair of compressed air and gas systems.

• Prior to and following preventative maintenance and repairs, test and document the proper operating parameters of the equipment.

• Document all work performed daily using company provided hardware and software. Submit work documentation to back office in a timely manner, as defined by the service manager.

• Develop rapport with customers through effective communication, interpersonal skills, and professionalism; working to satisfy customer expectations.

• Communicate customer feedback to back-office support and service management as necessary.

• Perform basic troubleshooting and diagnostics on malfunctioning equipment, determine possible causes for malfunctions, and perform minor repairs as suggested by diagnostics and assessment.

• Follow standard work for pre and post service preparation (submit expense reports, develop service reports)

• Follow all Environmental Health and Safety policies and procedures.

• Display the ability to absorb a higher level of learning including VSD's, refrigeration, industrial networks, remote monitoring, and air audits.

• Delivery and pick up of compressors – rentals and sales.

Education:

• High School diploma or equivalent required with technical training in electrical and/or pneumatics preferred.

• Knowledge of HVAC and Refrigeration is a plus.

• Associate degree or Technical Trade School is a plus.

Professional experience:

• 1-2 years of technical experience maintaining and repairing various types of mechanical and electrical equipment.

• 1-2 years of experience in diesel engine repair.

• Experience in the maintenance and repair of industrial rotating equipment

• Experience in HVAC a plus.

• Be able to successfully complete (within a reasonable time frame) Sullair certification training to Basic Level Key behaviors:

• Display the ability to manage time accordingly.

• Must have the ability to work and solve problems independently.

• Capability to effectively use Microsoft office software and handheld equipment (smartphone, tablet)

• Computer proficiency as required to complete digital service work orders and programming various controllers.

• Ability to communicate with internal and external customers (oral and written).

• Work as a team sharing knowledge with colleagues and participate in on-the-job training of self and others as skills allow.

• Contribute to positive Company branding by projecting a knowledgeable, professional, and customer orientated image to customers.

• Perform all duties in accordance with company standards, while always striving to understand the needs and expectations of the customer.

• Dedicated to completion of responsibilities.

• Must be fluent in English and have a valid driver's license.

• Must be able to lift to 50 lbs. on a regular basis and work in industrial environments including extremes in temperature with continuous walking, reaching, bending, and kneeling.

• Available for a rotating schedule of on-call work on evenings, weekends, and holidays. Position Requirements:

• Employee will use company provided equipment and will be required to travel to attend company provided training.

• Employee is required to have their own tools to perform their job duties.

• Must possess a valid driver's license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to: DUI in the previous 5 years, Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless/Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.

• This position requires working in diverse conditions including but not limited to mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, exposure to extreme weather conditions, precarious places, and risk of electrical shock (high voltage) with NFPA or equivalent standards.

• This position is highly physical and requires regular use of hands, fingers, walking, stooping, and kneeling. It requires employees to regularly lift and or move weight limits in line with the safety policy.
