The Systems Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading the design, implementation, administration, and ongoing optimization of the firm’s enterprise infrastructure. This role requires deep expertise in enterprise systems technologies and proven success in managing a high-performing team of engineers within a large, distributed law firm environment.
The Manager will oversee mission-critical systems including NetApp storage, Microsoft Exchange, VMware virtualization, enterprise backup solutions, and data security tools. The position demands a balance of strategic leadership, hands-on technical proficiency, and strong vendor management skills to ensure that the firm’s infrastructure is secure, resilient, and aligned with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership, mentorship, and direction to the Systems Engineering team.
Oversee design, deployment, and administration of: NetApp storage systems, Microsoft Exchange (on-premises and hybrid), VMware virtualization environments, Enterprise backup and recovery solutions, Data security and compliance tools
Develop and maintain enterprise systems architecture standards, ensuring alignment with firm-wide IT strategy.
Drive system performance, availability, and security improvements across all managed platforms.
Manage escalation of complex infrastructure issues and coordinate resolution with internal teams and external vendors.
Collaborate with IT leadership on technology roadmaps, budget planning, and project execution.
Ensure compliance with regulatory, ethical, and security requirements across the firm’s IT environment.
Promote continuous improvement through staff development, process refinement, and adoption of emerging best practices.
Maintain accurate system documentation and configuration management practices.
Required Education, Knowledge & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
10+ years of progressive IT experience with at least 5 years in a leadership or managerial role overseeing enterprise systems teams.
Proven expertise with: NetApp storage management and optimization, Microsoft Exchange 2016–2019 and/or Exchange Online, VMware virtualization architecture and operations, Enterprise backup and recovery platforms, Data security and compliance technologies
Demonstrated success leading IT initiatives in a large multi-office, professional services (law firm preferred) environment.

Experience with scripting and automation (PowerShell, Python) preferred
Exposure to cloud-based infrastructure solutions (e.g., Azure, AWS) preferred
Familiarity with Citrix environments (VDI, NetScaler) preferred
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to install equipment in standard 7-foot racks or cabinets.
Occasional travel as required.
