Education required: Undergraduate studying a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university, preferably in Engineering discipline with a focus in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Science, and Materials Science

Other requirements: Must be enrolled at a SG university for the duration of your internship and doing a full-time credit-bearing internship

Language requirement: Written and spoken fluency in English

What will you do?

This internship entails deep material characterization and comparability assessments of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and excipients used in the formulation and manufacture of oral, semisolid and liquid medicinal products

• Comparability studies are required to assess the impact of product lifecycle changes and material properties on secondary manufacturability (micronization, granulation, mixing, milling and tableting), drug product performance and patient impact

• The material characterization techniques involved in this project will encompass some or all of the following: particle sizing, solid state form determination, powder flow, thermal analysis, particle imaging and rheological analysis

What will you learn?

• Acquire hands on experience on different material characterization techniques for APIs and excipients used to manufacture medicinal products (particle sizing, XRPD, rheological properties, flow properties, moisture sorption analysis and thermal analysis)

• Hands-on experience on equipment trouble-shooting and characterization method development (where required)

• Data analysis and interpretation of results

• Present results, participate in material science discussions and influence data-driven decision making

• Appreciation of the importance of material characteristics on drug product manufacturing processes and quality

• Acquire knowledge and application of good laboratory practices (GLP) and good documentation practices (GDP)

What are we looking for?

• Strong interest to learn more about Material Characterization and Comparability Assessment of API(s) and Excipients To Assure Drug Product Manufacturability and Quality

• On-the-job learning with high level of independence in project activities

• Strong written and oral communications skills 

• Excellent English proficiency 

• A keen interest in production

• Meticulous, organized, and dedicated 

• Apply his/her knowledge of communications skills and learn engaging different stake holders to deliver a project
